Sure, you can activate online or call. I'm sure either will work on any day of the year. Welcome to Sirius!

Considering they don't celebrate Christmas in India, you should have no problem activating.

I didn't know Sirius outsourced...Each time I called customer service, and during the order/activation process, believe me, I called many times, I always felt I was speaking to an American, or at least someone who really grapsed the language well.

On a side note, I'm watching the local news now, and would you believe there's Wendy's is outsouring their drive thru order takers??? Wendy's from a handful of states have their orders taken from New Hampshire!! I'll add the link if the story is posted online later.

You will definitely be able to do it, but I would go with the online activation, the wait times by phone on Christmas Day will be very long, I'm sure, if past years are any indication.

In theory couldn't one leave it in the package? All you need is the radio ID and that is usually on the outside of the package. Then when it is opened Christmas day and turned on, all that would need to be done is aquire a signal.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be on to receive the activation signal from the sats as its sent, not later, otherwise it needs to be resent to let the radio see it when its on for anything to happen.

Again, I just assumed that was the way it worked, since they always tell you to "make sure the radio is on, you have satellite reception and are tuned to chan 184" or whichever.

Yep, radio has to be on to receive the activation signal.

Sirius CS is outsourced, like 3 call centers one in the caribbean and they do celebrate christmas. (I Should know, i live here). no call center in india so far.

The hold time is really, really long so it will be a good idea to activate it over the web, besides, if you take a 1yr or greater plan you save 5$ (wow 5$ bucks!) on the activation fee.

That's funny- I called to activate a radio about a month ago and asked the guy where he was... he said, caribbean. I thought he was Indian but, you know, they all sound alike!
