Default Free boombox and home kit for PNP1 and 2 owners

I don't know if everyone has rec'd this email but I just got an offer for a Free boombox and home kit (just pay shipping) from Sirius.

I just ordered 2 sets and shipping was under $22.

This is the Link they sent me, it didn't have my account encoded into it but it may still be a one time use link so give it a try. http://bm.sirius.com/ajtk/servlet/JJ...o&R=1356041650

Also, This is really stupid but it only works with IE. I tried to use FF2 and it just say there never giving any indication that it was not compatible with my browser. Took about 3 hours of intermittent attempts before I figured out it wasn't just the site.

You successfully ordered 2 of the free boomboxes? The terms say one per customer. I'd like to get another for my son who's on my account. That would be sweet.

hmmm.... missed the bit about 1 per customer. Must be their software that screwed it up and let me drag and drop the email link twice into a single tab.

I'm usually the first to jump on anything that is free or in this case nearly free, but I'm having trouble justifying this for me even for the west coast shipping price of $11.61.

I already have 2 car kits, and I have a 12 volt power supply, so I am already set up to play my PnP2 in my house. And almost every review of that Boombox on this forum has been horrrible- the amp is underpowered, the speakers sub-par, and it goes thru batteries faster than a soldering iron.

It might be worth it for me as a cheap way to get an extra antenna and a 12-volt, hi-amp power supply.
The boomboxes still sell well on eBay, too.

You can find a number of replacement speaker options. Do a search here and you can find the kenwood speakers that sound great in my boombox.

I haven't run my boombox on batteries very often just because I don't really need to and I hate to use up batteries for things like that. One of mine is going to my son's school because sometimes he takes our PNP2 to school. The other will either stay at home or go to his grandma who also has a PNP2.

Of course, you can always dump them on ebay if you want. And as you said the back up antenna and 12v supply are well worth the price of shipping.

I got my e-mail notice today and didn't think too much about it. I guess I didn't read it close enough. After reading what you have posted here, I went back and ordered me one. Thanks for the reminder.

$12 for 2 antennas is not too bad ..about as cheap as I have seen posted on here

you could always sell the boombox for $12 and have 2 free antennas

I guess each of us has to judge individually how much of a bargin it is ....
for me it was too good to pass up, then again it was only $6.57 on the
east coast and arrives in 2 days

Yeah, you are right. Even though I may not need anything now, I may as well stock up, so I just ordered a set.

Talk about over-ordering! Someone at AudioVox/Sirius must have reallyscrewed up if they are giving these away free- they must still have a warehouse full of these old PnP1 and PnP2 kits, and this is two years after they released the PnP3!

And yes, I know the speakers can be upgraded (I read your posts a few years ago) but it's still an underpowered battery eater- the rest of you will all see what I mean in a few days!

just a side note

my granddaughter (9 now) has had her BB1 since June 22 2004, and it is still
going strong .. and she uses it every day..goes to sleep listening and wakes
up listening .. takes it everywhere .. it has been to the beach 3 times, DC once,
numerous other trips, swimming pool in the summer .. it short it is used
quite a bit .. and it is still going strong ..

granted it does not sound like a $5,000 stereo but it was only like $250 for the
whole thing and it probably sounds like $250

now she has a spare .. my thinking being she can leave her original in her
room and leave this one down stairs and just carry the radio .. the first year
she wasnt allowed to carry the BB .. her brother or someone had to carry it for her
.. now she does tote it herself

I am not saying it is a great rig .. but am saying not everyone has had problems with them

..Dale
