that is exactly what they did. Hits 1 is one of the channels with "cleaned up music" Shade 45 isn't.

Why do we have to keep going over this? There's a segment of the population that does not want to hear profanities in the music (mostly pop music). Why shouldn't Sirius cater to that audience? Do you think it makes good business sense to ignore that segment? Or would it make more sense to offer something for everyone? Some people don't realize that Sirius is in business to make money.

http://www.itsonsirius.net/

Site that tells you what's playing on what channel.

And yes, there are places like offices, or other businesses that might be playing Sirius in their reception areas. It makes business sense to have these channels, and if you don't like it, listen to one of the other channels.

...Funny, just less than 15 minutes after I originally posted this, Red Peters played a song "I got a copywrite on the word fuck". And now another f song.

Ok, Red is in a league of his own with the cursing, but it's still funny that I posted this when I did.

I generally scan through your post fairly quickly, must have missed it. The Sticky That Never Was!

Radio like that is free to the public, no subscription necessary. Wouldn't it make more sense to offer something you CAN'T get for free?

I disagree, where is there hits based radio available for free with no commercials other than perhaps on the internet and even those charge.

I think the key is having channels that offer smaller (Hits One) as well as larger/deeper playlist (Coffee House, Sirius Disorder). I think the bulk of subscribers like knowing the music they are listening too. But again there also needs to be some channels that go deeper and provide a bit more variety. I think for the most part Sirius does this, but XM does a better job. Still both are better than what you can get for free.

Deeper tracks is a great selling point, and one that I like, but personally, I get irritated as hell listening to a song on Sirius and hearing a dead spot. Radio edits should be kept on public radio. First time I caught a censored song on Octane, I was pissed. Whether that was a choice by Sirius, or simply the version they had of that song, it was still damn annoying.

Well Chad has beat this horse to death so I am not going through it again. But SIRIUS the Corporation has the right to have business/family safe channels and so they do. It is just music, it has no power over me to piss me off or make me angry.

If I really, really want to hear music with all the profanity, I can just go right onto Yahoo or iTunes and buy it. I have never read anything that indicated to me that my subscriber fee was entitling me to have 100% uncensored content. They do claim to offer uncensored content and they most certainly do, but not 100%. I think folks that expect this had unrealistic expectations coming in and the fact is you had a choice from the first day you started listening to bring your tuner back and cancel your subscription.

Apparently the bulk of us have no problem with it, because we continue to subscribe. If it bothers you, I'll tell you what I told Chad, let your sub do your talking and show SIRIUS just how serious you are about censorship and cancel. Oh But wait... Chad won't do that and I bet you won't either. It's a business decision and it is the right one because they need to appeal to the masses, not just those that want to hear profanity in it rawest form.

As I said in the other thread, it's about the people who want to spread the censorship. Yes I have a problem with that, and I would cancel if it became more common. Sirius is great, but I'm not a life-time subscription member and wouldn't miss a wink of sleep if I cancelled. I personally, and I have said this many times, think it's boring and obnoxious to hear the DJ's overusing their favorite expletive simply because they can, but the people who want to ruin someone else's good time are even more obnoxious. Yes there are family friendly channels on Sirius, use them. Don't try and change the ones that are censorship free because god forbid your mother, child, dog or invisible friend don't like the naughty language.

I've never stated every channel should be censorship free (though that wouldn't bother me either) I just don't think it's necessary for every channel to be censored, nor do I think it's necessary to switch currently uncensored stations to censored.

Good then we are in full agreement, because I don't ever see a time when every channel will be censored, but clearly there will always be those business/family channels that will be. It's just good business sense!

If there's a channel that's supposed to be unedited like Octane, or Alt Nation, and I do hear an edit, I write them an email with the song title/artist name, and time/day I heard the song.

Most of the time, it's either a mistake by them, or it's the only version they could get and they write back "We're working on getting the unedit version."

And the Playboy Channel, Bubba, and the Sybian make up for any edited music I hear. Like it was said earlier, the music you do hear edited on channels like Sirius Hits 1, or The Pulse 9 can all be heard unedited on other Sirius channels.

Why this is even open for posting baffles me. People are too lazy sometimes.

That's simply not true for all channels. While it may be true for Hits 1 or the like, there are certain ones such as the "decades" channels (and a few others) that play radio-edited music that can only be heard on those particular channels. Now, regardless of whether you are for or against the editing of these "Business-Safe" channels is completely irrelevant because everyone should be in total agreement that if these channels are edited for content ...there should be an alternative source available to hear said music unedited. That's a more than reasonable request, but unfortunately SIRIUS does not provide such uncut alternatives for this music.

rustytrombone said the magic keyword:

MOST simply doesn't cut it. MOST is not all. Therefore, MOST is completely unacceptable.

It's nothing but common sense: If you are going to unnecessarily edit those channels for content then you should offer places to hear that content unedited. Is that asking too much?

Oh geez, the latest from PARIS HILTON to edited for ya?

Why doesn't Disney offer an UNcensored version of their crap I MEAN content?

KIDDIE STATIONS PLAY KIDDIE SONGS. Hits1 is geared for 12year olds. To want it UNCENSORED is just stupid talk when you have at least 3 UNcensored stations for each genre of music they play on that station.

Take 2 seconds and change the station off the children's music. You CLEARLY have nothing better to do.
