Default For Dual Subs:What Changes To Sirius Would Make You Drop XM?

I posted a similar thread on the XM boards and to be fair, I'd thought I would make a similar one over here. For me, it would be to deepen playlist on every channel of course (and I don't mean and a bunch of obcure stuff, there's a lot of hits that Sirius leaves out). Make Octane similar to Squizz on XM because it's so FM programmed IMO, and please make an all 90's station and make The Pulse like Flight 26 on XM. I'd be very pleased with these changes and likely would drop my XM sub. What about you guys?

I'd probably feel no use for XM if Sirius had:

- a dance channel
- a channel as rich as The Loft
- deep playlists, always a recurring theme

That's about it!

Baseball, an ALL PUNK CHANNEL SIMILARLY PROGRAMMED TO FUNGUS (this is the most important one), and Alt Nation deepening its playlist a bit may make me consider dropping one of my two XM subs.

But I probably wouldn't drop any of them as long as I can continue to pay for them. I really enjoy both, but Sirius would have to make those changes just to make me consider it.

I wouldnt give up XM, I have had it for over 5 years along with 4 plus years of Sirius. Both are great services. There are changes I would make in both, but not give up either one, even if both were perfect. I would add an old skool-funk channel to Sirius along with a slow jams R&B one ( Sirius used to have both). I would return the Bridge-never to be preempted by a solo artist showcase again, I would deepen the playlists on the decades channels (especially 60s Vibe) and have more live call in requests with live shows.

A true punk channel (like Fungus) and something more in line with Audiovisions (no, Spa ain't it) and I'd drop XM in a heartbeat.

Bring back Swing Street and EXPAND the playlist so it plays all the songs heard on XM 4 40's decade.

Already dropped one XM sub and added a second Sirius. About to drop the other XM in May when my 2 yrs runs out (only about $9/month locked in). Really only use XM to listen to O&A but getting tired of them as well (no interest in Stern since, oh, probably the mid-90s or so).

Sirius should deepen its playlists a bit as mentioned. There are many songs that can be added without getting obscure. For example, on classic vinyl, I noticed that they freshen their playlist every few months, however, instead of just adding songs, others go away for a while to make room for the "new" ones. Why not just keep adding for a larger rotation. The same can probably be said for most other music channels. Overall I like the classic rock lineup much better on Sirius, as there's a much wider choice between vinyl, rewind, vault, buzzsaw and sometimes spectrum. On XM, if Top Tracks is into something you don't like, it's either Big Tracks, which I think goes much to late, or Deep Tracks, which goes too deep (both with artists and tracks).

Coffeehouse has filled much of the Loft void for me, although knowledgable DJs and an expanded playlist towards more older acoustic rock would be nice.

Vault replaces Deep Obscure Tracks, which, IMO, is sometimes great, but too often can't be left on too long without getting to something out of left field that rambles on for 20 min. Sure the Vault plays more mainstream cuts and definitely focuses on mainstream artists more, but I like their mix.

The Jazz on Sirius, I think, blows XM away (Pure Jazz and Standards particularly - don't go for that "cool jazz" thing, which is more R&B with just a jazz influence). XM tends to go more bebop which is not my liking. I would also like a dedicated swing channel to go along with vocal standards (I was not a sub when this existed).

Finally, I like having DJs, but the channel IDs, on both the DJ and non-DJ channels are way too frequent. First of all, if there is a DJ every 3-4 songs, why stick an ID in between - the DJ always identifies the channel? And on the Coffeehouse in particular, they are way too frequent. It seems there's an ID about every 10-15 min.

Leave the Bridge alone (well the playlist can be expanded) and run a single revolving individual artist channel, as many have suggested.

My wish would be for Sirius to deepen their playlists. Too much repetition.

Also, I agree with the previous poster who said they have too many station ID's. I find them to be much too frequent and very annoying. And it doesn't even make sense. The station name and number is displayed right on your radio. Not to mention the DJ's mention it most of the time. The station ID's are making the Coffee House very hard to listen to and it's killing the Spectrum for me as well. I listen to Siruis to hear music and knowledgeable DJ's, not the same annoying station promos over and over again.

I'm actually going to drop XM soon I find that sirius is enough for me.
Funny thing happend...I tried to cancel my sub the other day and the folks at cs practically fell over themselves to give me another 3 months for free!
So after that I will cancel

1. Baseball

2. Fine Tuning - Everything from Progressive Rock to Classical. It's nice background music in my office.

3. Most of all I left FM because of the endless commercials and DJ's who ramble on. XM has scored a winnner with certain channels that maybe once an hour or so play the station tag and then right back to the music. I have no use for the CC stations!

4. Hate to admit it on this forum but XM has a better SQ (IMHO)

Sirius: Sportster Replay and Stratus - XM: Nexus 25 and Polk Receiver for the home system. (Now that Sirius is finally getting into home units maybe Santa has one in his bag!)
