Perhaps, but I've seen new people introduce themselves and, rightly, get a warm welcome- and I've also seen several instances of people like the orginal poster mention that for one reason or another they were dropping their Sirius subscription only to be met with derision, as if the other posters were somehow being rejected.

The main ones that I have notice this happening with are those posters that say, I've been a subcriber for 3 years, yet they never registered on the forum. They finally do for the sole purpose to let us all know they are canceling the service. Why not register during the time that you are having issues and try to find solutions and or get suggestion that may actually help improve their experience. Some of these folks post with a vengence and get totally carried away. Clearly their experience and the experience of those that reply do not match, so they get called on it.

Also as a side note we've caught many of these guys with multiple usernames posting from the same IP address, which means.. they are really nothing more than trolls. This does not mean all of them are and I am certainly not implying that the OP is. But if you have the service and you don't like it anymore, contant SIRIUS and let them know the reason you are canceling. Posting it here means NOTHING!!!! It will have ZERO impact other than just allowing you to vent.

So, I guess the best way to vote is with the pocket book and remove the funding. I'm sure I won't bankrupt Sirius but they are short one subsciber which means they need two new ones now.

And by the way, I never ever had any trouble with the customer service. I always felt it was superb!!
I have a friend that cancelled Sirius for exactly the same reason. He subscribed because Sirius carried the live WSM feed 24/7 from what I understand. Then he wasn't happy because they programmed it differently from the famous AM station. Then they did away with it altogether. It was the last straw for him, and he jumped to XM. He's perfectly happy with it, and says he enjoys their country better than Sirius's. Try it! You might like it.

You are not alone, but almost. I have expressed similar thoughts elsewhere, although not as well. Regular contributors will blast you for being critical of Dear Old Sirius.

I have suggested more music-only channels. That idea is poison. They love their DJs.

It is discouraging the Sirius has decided to distinguish itself from XM by being the home of Annoying No Talent DJs. If not for Howard, I would get XM instead of Sirius. My co-worker has XM and it seems far better (the music programming).

It happens on the XM sites also.

It's as if people think it is fun or something. Again, play the music and shut the F*&K up!

radio was and is about having good talent/dj's. if you remember radio started out with people talking and moved on from there to play music.. that's why cds and ipods and stuff came forward.. to listen to music w/o interruption..

i feel this point is sooo cut and dry that it surprises me when people are like "why are their djs" lol.. i don't know most talk for <30sec at a time and I don't see any problem with it.. as a radio jock it is fun talking over music

Anyway.. get over it or go buy some cds or music on itunes and try that out.. i think you will find it gets kind of boring as well

personally i do a rotation of things i go from my own mp3 playlist to ipod to sirius repeat etc etc.. //g

I sort of like having the DJ's on Sirius channels - They rarely ever talk more than 1/2 minute and I think it adds to the dimension of the stations. I especially like the DJ's on the 60's / 70's channel where they are mildly trying to emulate the late 60's / early 70's screaming DJ's (I think they call it the "Drake" format) that you heard on the older 50,000 watt AM top 40 stations such as WABC (NY), or CKLW Big 8 in (Windsor, Ont. / Detroit), KFW (?) Los Angeles, WLS Chicago - I found that entertaining in a nostalgic sort of way.

I agree with a previous poster in that if there are no DJ's its just a box with music coming out it. DJ's can add context and add in natural break-points for tempo changes, etc. As long as they are not blathering for 5 minutes at a time it does not bother me at all.

Cheers -

I know most of these posts are troll-like in nature... but I really don't understand the point of posting the "I'm leaving Sirius" like you are the Pied Piper leading the subscribers away from Sirius.

You're leaving... big deal... no one cares...

MRB42 - right on - well said!!! These people think they are so important - like we will really miss them - no way. I think Sirius (and XM) offer good services and they are great value for the money.

Cheers

Having both there are two things that are keeping me from canceling Sirius...the promise of better signal coverage and the DJ's. The DJ's add a flair and personality that you don't really get with many of XM's music stations. Not to mention I remember many of those jocks from NY radio days so it's nice to hear them from time to time. Back in the golden days of radio disc jockeys defined a radio station....Alan Freed, Wolfman Jack, the jocks at KSAN and WNEW. They were part of that time capsule and it's good to hear guys like Cousin Brucie, Pat St. John, Vin Scelsa and others on Sirius.

I'm a dual sub, so am no XM hater. Not by a long shot. I call BS on everything that you have said here.
The musical diversity is there because the songs that XM plays that you say you never heard of are being played because regular radio never had the guts to play them. I love hearing new 'old' songs by bands that I liked but never heard the songs before. That's why I got Satelite radio, I knew I would hear these songs that FM won't play. It's like discovering music all over again.

XM also has Casey Kasem's old episodes: (Wed, Thur, Sat and Sundays)

XM Satellite Radio is celebrating Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 coming to The 70s on 7 and The 80s on 8.

On July 4, 1970, Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 debuted, and the Detroit native quickly became synonymous with the countdown format. The format, reminiscent of the immensely popular Your Hit Parade program in the 1930s and 1940s, allowed Kasem to blend human-interest stories with the top songs of the day. His final show aired on August 6, 1988 due to contract conflicts with ABC, after which it was taken over by Shadoe Stevens. Casey eventually reclaimed the AT40 moniker in 1998, until the torch was handed over to Ryan Seacrest in 2004.

Dude, you don't get it. XM's playlists are too deep. From someone that loves music (and XM) their playlists are too deep. You hear deep tracks from bands that you like, bands that you don't like, bands that you haven't heard of, bands that nobody on the planet has ever heard of.

I'm all about the music. Other than catching games virtually all that I listen to are the music channels. No talk at all. I don't care about Howie, O&A, R&F or any of the other talk. I care about the music. I bounce around on XM a lot more than Sirius because XM plays some obscure shit. And they play it way too often.

XM playlists are too deep.
