Default Free Radio Question

I recently received a free Sirius One as a free second radio from Sirius and installed it in my other car. The radio is horrible. I cannot receive reception from the FM modulator on my windshield and had to put in next to my speedometer. Even that close to the radio there is some hissing or static.

My long winded question is, will I get better performance if I get Sportster Replay instead. It does require the purchase of a home kit, which I do not really need since I have a PNP2. But I am really unhappy with the Sirius One.

Welcome to SBS. You may want to search around here some as this has been addressed many times. Have you tried other FM frequencies? Also, the current radios FM modulators have been re-gonaded by the FCC, output power/range significantly decreased. Best option is direct wire the audio, but another option is to use an FM modulator relay on your car radio. A $20 option, that may also require some adaptors, and some install knowledge.

I will not think it matters because of the FCC crackdown against Sirius for exceeding limits for transmitting. Your best bet is just get a radio off of eBay, or another place that has pre-FCC modulation in place. There is also the option of either hardwiring the FM Wired Modulator or AUX Input (AUX depends on car) or if your car has a cassette player, put a tape MP3 player in there and connect it to your satellite radio. These options will eliminate static.

The PNP2 home kit is very different from the Sportster Replay home kit by design, so you will need to purchase a seperate home kit.

Make sure your antenna is outside the vehicle. (roof, trunk, etc.)
