Default strange underwater sound

Last night on my unit in my car i noticed the sound coming from my unit sounded like it was underwater. Today I turned on the unit i have in my home and started hearing the same sound. It made me feel better hearing it on another unit becauce it meant my car unit was not messed up. Anyone have this problem or know what the deal is?

I was hearing the same thing.

It sounded like a bunch of compression artifacts... like someone had dropped the bitrate of the audio channels.

It was really obvious when one of the DJ's were talking on Sirius Disorder. I chalked it up to a possible problem with the automation, but I heard the same thing on Friday and today.

It would be very bad if Sirius cut the bandwidth to the music streams.

The question should be what radio do you have... because my Stiletto is performing fine over here, and so is the PNP3.

I noticed something different on the hip-hop channels. Not an underwater type sound, but a muddiness from the bass sounds. Heard some songs I had heard before and they definitely sounded different today and yesterday then they usually do .

I know what you are saying. Like a pot of tea that's ready without the whistle. Leaky lab equipment.

Real strange. I was listening to the comedy stations when I heard it.

I heard it too and thought I was crazy. Yes, it was an 'underwater' sound! I heard it on Friday, but haven't listened since then to see if it was fixed.

Default Muddy sound - compression problems?

I've been hearing this too, since Friday afternoon (EST), on The Vault, Planet Jazz and The Blues Channel (74) - it's probably happened to all the channels.

SV1C & XAct Visor radios.

I hope this isn't an intentional/permanent change!

Cheers,

Don't know for sure if this is affecting some, but not all, radios. It might help if folks would post the model of the radio, along with the channels that sound bad.

I noticed the same thing earlier today and was afraid there was something wrong with my Stiletto. Now reading this thread I see it's not just me but a problem with Sirius.

What is going on with the Sirius sound? It just seems to get worse and worse all the time. Is this a problem that's going to be fixed or does this have to due with the limited bandwitdth?

Sirius really needs to get their act together. The sound is unacceptbable.

I am noticing the same sound issues with my Stiletto and my Starbase in my car. First noticed the issue in my car, and I thought something happened to the speakers.

Definitely noticed the same thing. Had to switch to listening to FM, it was so bad. This was in the factory Sirius radio in my Toyota Avalon, listening to Spectrum & Pure Jazz. I sent an email to customer service but I wonder why I bother. The just reply with insultingly stupid stuff like "there's no equipment problem in your area" and "you might have to have your radio fixed" or some such. It's obvious that many people have noticed the same thing.
