Default Home antenna...feedback

The home antennes I use came with the boomcube and universal bbox....one failed last weekend and it got me to thinking...are these antennas meant to be outdoors? Mine got wet in a rain storm before it failed...
Also I've seen the larger (outdoor?) antennas at BB...they've got kinda of a dome type shape at the top. Does anyone here own one and how well does it work?

Thanks for any info
.....SS

Question

I think that all Sirius Antenna are all weather. Maybe you go a bad antenna. Is the unit less then a year old? Maybe you can get a warranty replacement on it.

Good Luck!...

I own a Terk SIR6 outdoor antenna. It works great.

While I think that the outdoor antenna is a good idea, I don't think it's really necessary instead of the included home antenna. It's main value is ruggedness and weatherproofing, plus multiple mounting options.

If your home antenna failed anyway, it does seem like a good time to upgrade. I would go for the kit that includes a splitter, so you will have an antenna connection available in two rooms at once. Also, I recommend buying from TSS Radio. They have good prices, free shipping on some orders, and fantastic service. Also, they are a sponsor of this site and I have never read one complaint about them. The extra day or two may very well be worth it.

Cap'n, semi penguin...thanks for the replies
So its called a "terk" antenna..I was gonna ask about spliting options for multiple recievers so thanks...I'm not sure what happend to my original antenna...like I said it has been out in the weather from day 1(almost 1yr now) I will definitly look into the terk antenna and see if it fits my needs.
You can add my name to the list of satisfied customers of tssradio I've orderd from them twice and they get very high marks me!

Hold on there, surfer! Terk is one brand of outdoor antenna. Others are Directed and Monster (as in Monster Cables).

The antenna and splitter package is made by Directed. I remember looking at the specs for Directed's antenna; they were about the same as Terk. The only real difference is the shape. Also, it is designed to use RG-6 coax cable and splitters. You will need to purchase the cable separately.

Good luck.
