A Merry XM-mas
Posted (on WSJ) by Cindy Perman

A year after Howard Stern lit a fire under Sirius Satellite Radio’s signups, archrival XM Satellite Radio may be staging a comeback. Based on store checks, PacificCrest analysts wrote in a research note, “XM’s share at retail is stable and may be increasing slightly due to strong demand for its portable devices, such as the Pioneer Inno and Samsung Nexus, and attractive pricing.” PacificCrest added that “the sentiment of salespeople seemed to be incrementally more positive for XM than during previous checks this year.” For Sirius, “our retail store and Web site checks increase our concern that fourth-quarter expectations” — slightly higher net additions than last year — “are too high.” — Tim Hanrahan
