Post Too Much Information

Here's a suggestion I submitted to Sirius's customer feedback. I know numerous people who agree with me. Does anyone out there share the same feeling?

Dear Sirius,

I have been a Sirius Subscriber for over a year now. I love Sirius radio. I learned about Sirius through a friend and have reccommended it to other friends. I listen in the car and over the Internet. I even bought stock in Sirius because I believe you have a great potential.

It is because I believe in Sirius that I suggest you stop putting messages after artist names. For example, this morning while listening to Octane my radio displayed "Evanescence / Also heard on Revolution 67" and "Saliva / new music from Memphis". I dont care what other stations play this artist, I'm listening to them here and now. And while I'm driving I certainly don't care where Saliva originated. If I wanted this information I would look it up on the web. The appended mesages only serve to make my receiver scroll and to annoy me when I glance down for an artist name and instead see the back half of a message. Please keep it simple. The artist name alone is enough. Save the extra information for the DJs during thier brief interludes.

Thank you for your time. I hope you will take this suggestion into consideration for the future of Sirius radio.

Are you kidding? You are bitching about them providing information on the screen?

Yeah, I just sent one:

DEAR SIRIUS, PLEASE DISREGARD THE MESSAGE SENT BY THE FOOL THAT HAS WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS. ALSO, CAN YOU FIX MY LACES ON MY NEW BALANCE 007s? ONE SIDE IS LONGER THAN THE OTHER AND IT MAKES THE LOOPS ALL WEIRD LOOKING.

I'LL BE WAITING DOING NOTHING FOR YOUR RESPONSE.

Please tell me this is a joke post?!?!?!?!!?

I'd prefer not to have it. Not enough to complain, though.

How about DON'T LOOK? I've never read...well yes I have but THIS IS JUST STUPID!

I know, why don't you trade with someone on here that has a radio with a broken screen? I'm SURE there will be plenty of takers.

I do agree with the "Also heard on..." part being unnecessary.

Whoa. Advertising that a song is also being played on a religious channel isn't exactly gonna sit well with the hardcore hard rock fans.

But yeah, I totally agree it's a very annoying practice that should stop. Up until your post I just assumed it was primarily being done on *Super Shuffle...haven't really noticed it much elsewhere. Listeners should have enough common sense to realize what other channels are playing whatever particular music. And that can easily be accomplished by setting an S-Seek Alert, browsing the channels/genres list and using sites like "It's On SIRIUS".

I'm on the fence about this one because I actually enjoy the extra little tidbits of info about an artist. On the other hand, I can totally see how it could get a little frustrating while driving.

*Super Shuffle continues to be a waste of bandwidth.

Default I agree

I sometimes hear a song and don't know the title or artist and want to see who it is. Especially when I am driving in my car I just want to glance over and not have to read a lot of text. No need to tell me what other stations it is played on or any other history. Just the title and artist.

You guys need to upgrade to a device with a real screen. I thought scrolling went away with pagers...

Is a second glance really so difficult that you needed to tell them AND us? It just seems odd for a first post. The real question is whether this is your only problem you're having with Sirius or was this just the jumping in point? If this is the only issue, then enjoy the 99% that doesn't bug you. Personally, I wouldn't mind more info in selected application, like the PDT on Howard101.

I don't particularly like it, but it certainly doesn't bother me enough to be concerned about it!

I'd rather see them take the time to address the poor sport ticker feature, which is just about totally worthless as it is implimented now.

I think that is very cool. XM does not do that.

Have you ever seen "Godsmack / check out this awesome new song!!!"? I see it alot and that's a little much. I'm sure Sirius as a company has nothing to do with it, it's most likely just a DJ being foolish. But even on a Sportster Replay with a nice big 4 line screen it makes the artist line scroll for what I think is a stupid reason.

I posted this here because as much as I like Sirius their customer service is terrible and I knew I'd never get a response back. I wanted to see if it was just me or if anyone else felt the same way.

I also did not intend it to be a complaint but a suggestion. If enough people dont like it, they should stop. Sirius is still on shakey ground and needs every bit of leverage to win new sat radio customers. But if most people like to see all kinds of text rolling by then so be it.

Post Thrush is right

Thank you Thrush.

They even say it's "new" music if it is a re-release of a decades-old disc. It would like to see them put that energy into improving the music programming. Listing other channels the track is played on only emphasizes the overlap that exists among channels.

As usual, regular contributors defend Sirius as if Thrush had insulted a member of the family.

No...some of us just get a little worried when someone's biggest fault with RADIO is the DISPLAY HAS TOO MANY WORDS.

Little high strung for even me and I'm a masshole.

How about, "love" or "memo" the song and then....look it up. These things can rewind and fast forward but that would take all of 6seconds of your life that I'M SURE is reserved for brain surgery.

And it's not useless to some people. One of the things i like about SatRad is that it exposes me to new and different stuff. But if it's a band I'm not familiar with, then the fact that it is new is of interest to me. If I get incomplete info between screen changes, I just glance back again later. Maybe the S50 screen displays better, it doesn't scroll but will alternate the bottom line info...
