Default Can you sell lifetime sub? Transferable? Then moving to XM?

Is there any way to sell a lifetime sub to someone?

I got mine 12 months ago to listen to Howard Stern but as it turns out, I never listen to him in my car on my actual radio because I have a second 'family plan' unit in my home that I record it to my computer and then play it off my Ipod.

So really I am paying for the music only since I dont listen to Howard Stern in the car. From what I hear, XM actually has better music - supposedly having a full time Reggaeton channel and a better selection of alternative and hiphop stations (my 3 main types of music).

I am thinking of jumping ship (getting my Stern MP3s off the internet for free) and going with XM for their music.

Is this possible or am I pretty much screwed since I already spent the $500

I don't know about anyone else, but since it is in your name I don't think you can just transfer it to someone else, so your only option is to just outright cancel it. I think they will give you a prorated refund, along with a $75 early termination fee. So you'd get a little less than half your money back probably.

You better test out XM before you jump ship. I know many people that thought the grass was greener on the otherside to get it and be rather disappointed. I would not cancel my lifetime until I knew for sure I'd be satisfied with XM. I personally like XM, but then I like both services and I have no issues with SIRIUS content wise.

if you were to sell your receiver on ebay with the lifetime sub included how would siri know? the receiver is activated and always will be isnt it?

the buyer wouldnt be able to transfer it to a new receiver im sure but it would make the receiver more valuable then a plain-old receiver.

but if you want stern dont you think you ought to keep your siri sub? i mean, in terms of it being the honest thing to do?

Exactly. This person is a assclown. But to answer your question, YES, just call XM and tell them you have a lifetime sirius account that you want transfered to them and they will steal the Stern bits for you for the first year for free!

It makes you question your own sanity when nonsense like this pops up in question form.

You guys are being a little harsh. He didn't say he was stealing Stern, he said he had a second "family plan" receiver in his house that he has hooked up to his computer to record Stern for personaly use. Assuming he means the Sirius $6.99 a month family plan, he's not stealing anything.

Nah, this isn't a DIRECT QUOTE FROM ABOVE.

"I am thinking of jumping ship (getting my Stern MP3s off the internet for free) and going with XM for their music"

Nothing about getting Stern for free there. Only talking about paying.

I think it's safe to say we are all doomed.

That's ok. I try and try to give people the benefit of the doubt all the time and people just continue to amaze with their brainless ways.
