Default FM Transmitters on Newer Radios

I keep reading that the FM transmitters on newer radios are pretty bad. How bad are they?

I have one of the older Xact receivers (looks like a little PDA). The FM transmitter on that is average at best. I also have a (early model) Starmate Replay and an Xact Visor. The FM transmitter on those two receivers is great. Are the new ones even worse than the one on my old Xact unit?

Let's just say in my car, I run the output of my Stiletto to an iRiver FM transmitter I used with my MP3 player because the audio output from the Car Dock's transmitter is almost non-existant....

..and I removed my FM antenne from my car years ago to avoid static... and I still got static with the Stilettos CD.

So yeah... they suck to put it nicely.

Ditto. They're gawd awful and more-or-less worthless. In fact, I've gotta think that they're going to just scrap the whole idea of them in the relative near future. It's pointless to try to deal with the modulator at this point.

If you want to have a XACT Visor as a spare, Walmart has them for $28.34.
