Okay if we are going to start another SQ thread, then I am locking the other one? I don't want there to be multiple threads on this subject. What do you want to do gumby?

Since the first of the month I have noticed some songs I have never heard on Sirius before, and improved sound quality. Clearer, more stereo like sound for sure.

No doubt about it. This is more like what I was expecting when I signed up. Glad I didn't cancel like I was about to.

After the past year, yes I have low expectations.

Many channels have recently gone from unlistenable to acceptable, so I'm relatively happy.

no it depends on where you are listning. and on what equipment. my radio sounds great in the truck. and not so great on my home stereo system. dont know why but xm and sirius are the same way. great in the truck. flat on the home stereo. either way sounds better today than this time last month so yes i agree with this thread. sq is better now.

Yea! It is sending better to me too. This is one of the better improvments I have noticed. It seems like the stereo effects are better. My sirius used to seem kinda mono ish , but now i can tell its stereo sound

I was away for a week. Turned on my Sirius in the car when I returned and definitely noted a significant increast in SQ on the channels I listen to. Less distorted, and a little more separation. Also clarity in the highs that I've not heard before on Sirius. Again, at least on the channels I listen to. Not sure if the change was across the board on all channels...

No, they are not perfect, just better than they were. In fact, much better than I've heard them in the past year.

I just decided to close the other one. Just for future purposes there is really no need to start another thread on the same subject.

The other thread was very long, so I think it was probably time to shut it out and start fresh anyway. So now we have.

I listen to Sirius with headphones about 80% of the time using a convertible Starmate Replay so I think I can label myself as a discerning listener. Now last night I picked up this thread (Dec. 8) and then when I went to bed, turned on the radio for a bit and really did my best to notice something improved, especially in the classic rock channels (somehow hoping to hear Bohemian Rapshody!).

Althrough I can attest to the fact that the sound is definitely less wabbly (especially on piano notes), I failed to notice an increase in separation but at this point at least, we should all agree that... oh boy, someone's gonna knock me out of alignment because of this... Sirius has an overall edge over XM! There, I said it!

That statement alone should feed this thread for a while!!! :-)

I've definitely come to the conclusion that it all depends on when you happen to be listening.

Case in point, a couple of weeks ago there was a thread about an "underwater" sound that was prevelant on every station. The sound was not only poor, but unlistenable. Then when that problem was fixed, the sound quality actually seemed to be better than it had been previously. I even commented at that time how it was the best I had ever heard Sirius sound and it was the first time I was really satisfied with the SQ. Then I was listening at different times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon (around the same time you posted this) and the sound was very poor again. Not as bad as when it had the underwater sound, but there was very little stereo seperation and the high end was almost non-existent. I'm thinking "here we go again". The sound was so bad each time I only listened for a short time and then gave up. Then on Sunday night I turned on the Spectrum and was surprised to hear very good sound. The stereo seperation was back and there was real detail in the sound that was lacking the previous days. The difference was stunning.

So for some reason Sirius SQ is extremely inconsistent. It can sound very good one moment and then really bad the next. I think this helps to explain one of the reasons why we get some varying opionions on SQ. We're all listening at different times so we can each have a different experience.

It is amazing how much more I enjoy listening to the Sirius music channels (for me mainly the Spectrum, the Coffeehouse, and Disorder) when the SQ is good. I really wish I knew the reason why they can't maintain the type of sound I heard last night, but unfortunately I'm confident that it won't be long until I turn on one of those stations and then end up quickly turning it off due to poor SQ.
