I like the concept of DJ's on Sirius however there are a few of them I don't care for.

Two excellent DJ's that I used to listen to many years ago on WNEW FM.

Knowledgeable DJ's can definitely add to the listening experience.

These are two of the best.

Most of the time I like them - it personalises the experience. Even though I love the music on First Wave, I could do without Freddy Snakeskin and Richard Blade. I used to enjoy Madison's energy from time to time, but she irritates the crap out of me now.

Default Dj

Deborah Howell on Jazz Cafe is good and I do like Barry Williams on 70s. But I would not mind if they were totally dropped. I have not listened to Standard Time in a while, is Jeff Spurgeon still on AMs?

I agree with Azjoe....I like DJ's and think they add personality to a station/show/time slot. However, some are horrible and downright not appealing to me at all. And like Road Hog said, Vin Scelsa is amazing. To me, the more he talks, the better.

I love that Sirius has DJ's. If they got rid of them I would cancel my sub. Hitting random on my mp3 player is cheaper than having Sirius do it for me.

Lightbulb Madison Rules!

Sorry I was late, here's the quote you've been waiting for.

"If you want song after song, listen to your ipod"

While it's great to be spared from the drone of commercial after commercial, switching endlessly between stations to find anything that sounds like music, the DJs do a great job of breaking the other monotony on the radio, listening to song after song after song, with no commentary, no personality, no break from the poetic musings of a person you'll never know. The DJs add the feel of real, tangible people who don't put some hidden meaning behind the notes. It's very difficult to strike a perfect balance between talk radio and a jukebox with no context, or plain speech.

And Madison is by far the most entertaining of them all.

I don't care either way, just as long as it's not Madison.

I like the DJs on Sirius. They give interesting tidbits/info on musicians in between songs.

I like almost all of the DJ's that I hear. The one that I don't really like is Alan Hunter on Big 80's because I rarely like what he has to say. But the DJ's on Classic Rewind, Vinyl, Totally 70's, Big 80's, Buzzsaw, and The Pulse are good.

So I am glad Sirius has DJ's. It makes it more interesting. While travelling alone on a long trip, it's nice to have someone to keep you company

I'm ok with the DJ's as long as they don't ramble on.

It's a little annoying on HN23 when they'll talk about the new albums that bands have out, but then they can't play them... cause the album wasn't released in the 80's

PS Not a big Madison fan though...

I think the DJ's sometime forget the music is more important than cultivating their personalities. I hate it when act they are pretending to have a conversation with me and ask questions.

But, I find the automated clips between ever other song more annoying. And, why the #$Q@# would anyone want to hear other subscribers bad singing being played over the air or subscriber professing their love for Sirius?

I like having DJ's on the channels but only to introduce the songs and maybe give a tidbit about new music they are playing or new music coming up from an artists. Other than that, I just want music.

Post It's RADIO

Count on someone to chime in with it's RADIO, as if satellite radio has to conform to an oudated model. If it's RADIO then you just have to have DJS don't you?

Sirius is committed to DJs. I'm sure they are encouraged to chat it up. It adds "personality." The problem is, DJs are a breed who have the gift of gab but no other gifts. The gift of being clever or interesting for example. Lacking those gifts, the typical DJ resorts to shouting and screaming, talking nonsense about celebrities, or telling "funny" anecdotes about pets, hairdos, shopping, etc. Or, Pat St. John prattling endlessly about all of the music legends he has rubbed elbows with.

I get very limited use from the music channels because of DJs, repetition, and the limited selection. When Howard's 5 years are up, I'm gone. I guess I'll get an iPod.
