I like DJ's on the satellite channels. XM has expanded their DJ roster over the past few months. (At least it seems that way to me)

I think it depends on the channel as to the dj chatter.
I think people listening to a station like Shade..want to hear them talk, people like Cipha..Whoo Kidd..they have thei fingers on the pulse of that genre. I like the talk, doesn't bother me at all.

Props to The Minister on Left of Center at night. He's a good one, and brings much to the channel.

Well, folks, I also vote in favor of having DJs. I listen primarily to the country channels, and perhaps its my old-fashioned nature as a 46 year-old who had been listening to country radio from 1973 until the last FM country station left NYC and I signed on to Sirius in the summer of 2003, but I appreciate the knowledge of the music and enthusiasm brought by many of the country DJs. I especially like Charlie Monk, The Grand Ole Opry's Hairl Hensley and Wade Jessen on The Roadhouse; Jim Kerr and Ray Rossi who do weekends on New Country; Bill Rock on Prime Country; and RigRocker on Outlaw Country. While many people undoubtedly prefer music without DJs, I'm the type who gets used to having the same familiar, friendly, knowledgeable voice on the channel...so much so that I posted a thread over on the SBS country forum when DJ Lee Arnold, who's still working evenings on Standard Time, stopped doing his daily Noon-6PM show on The Roadhouse.

Talking DJ lover vs. Music lover

The only reason I switch to a music channel is to hear music. The DJ chatter is just filler, shit I have to get through until the music starts again, just like a commercial. If I'm lucky the DJ isn't too annoying and I won't have to switch the channel. I listened to the Blues channel recently and Early Times had to blab after every freakin' track! It's uncalled for.

I guess a DJ lover can't wait for the song to be over so they can hear the DJ again.

I love DJ Envy and the entire After Hours crew so I'm cool with it usually.

Although I wouldn't go quite that far---if I did I'd listen to a country music talk channel rather than a country music channel---I don't have a problem with occasional DJ comments. I like having DJs, but I'd get annoyed and likely change the channel too if the DJ found it necesssary to talk before and after every song!

I like the djs -that are trained as djs-not the has been actor or singer who needs work-like the greg brady guy on the 70s channel.
its cool to hear some info on whats new with the bands especially when listening to the classic rewind station where some of the band s have not been together for years.
