Post 15% More? Where?

Hey! Just wondering if anyone has heard any more info about new channels coming out. I remember reading that the new receivers are capable of getting more channels. I also thought I read somewhere that Sirius can increase its line up by 15% with this receivers. Anyone know if this is still in the works?

Hierarchial Modulation is probably not in the new receivers yet but testing was completed (it gives SQ a BIG boost)

I think that what you heard is about the newer Canadian channels that were added.

So only a few people with older receivers got the canadian channels or is everyone supposed to get them? Cause i myself don't have them on my receiver.

There was a report awhile back about the Hierarchial Modulation codec tests they were doing, and it was supposed to increase system capacity by about 25% or so. But it's been suspected that the new space will be used for mainly video transmission. And it's also expected that only newer receivers will be able to exploit the better codec. Which would make sense to have a receiver capable of getting video as well. The video feed is considered to be childrens programming by most. Although there is always the argument about should the bandwith be used for a. better sounding audio across the board, or b. more music channels.

So this is a wait and see situation.

There are six Canadian channels that are higher than the emergency/weather channel (184). It appears these channels can't be received by older radios. All the new sets can pick them up..

See This thread for more info..
