Default I like the DJs

I actually like the DJs. They throw in a little personality and make it so the music is not just endless running automated station.

I have had sirius for 3 years and never remember getting pissed off at a DJ. Yea they may go into useless banter for 20 seconds but who cares. It adds a human touch to the stations.

I LIKE IT.

the only one who really annoys me is Madison on Alt Nation 21. I think it's just her voice.

Madison is kind of annoying...

I don't mind DJ's talking between songs or telling us what's coming up next. What I cannot stand is talking over the intro to songs. I know the DJ's think they're so clever the way they can time it so they stop talking riiiiiiight before the lyrics to the songs kick in, but for those of us with s50's who like recording songs, it's impossibly frustrating to have to listen to the same innane banter over and over.

YES! YES! YES!

Somebody shut that B!^@# up! Talk about killing a song.

Also, just a point of fact for everyone who may be deluding themselves: Talking about NASCAR coming to Sirius, Talking about where an artist is playing that night, talking about how you can get a free radio, etc ARE ALL COMMERCIALS!!!! I don't care if you are only selling Sirius on Sirius, it's still a COMMERCIAL. And it just pisses me off to no end.

My boss was going to get Sirius for Christmas because I keep talking it up....then we go to lunch in my car a week or so ago....listening to music channel and they jump in with the "Get a free radio with 6 months sub" offer and he chimes in "I thought you said no commercials, what a crock".......

So now I look like an idiot trying to spin it to sound like it really isn't a commercial so he doesn't think I am full of s#*^ for talking it up so much. When in fact I agree with him, it is a crock.

I'll keep Sirius though 'cause it rocks regardless of the lies.

Seems like the main themes on this are:
* Most people don't mind the occassional DJs. It seems like there are a few who'd want, essentially, an MP3 radio but for most of us the DJs break it up a bit.
* Most of us get annoyed at Sirius telling us how they're commercial-free and then shoving a commercial (about Sirius) at us.

I think it'd suck just as much to tie the hands of the DJs (say only talk about the music where relevant or else) as it does for corporate to tell them: Make sure you say <x> <y>-times each day! (which is pretty obvious with the lead-ins to the free radios).

What would be best is if there were some way that the DJs could just be themselves and then we could somehow vote on whether we like them or not. If a DJ wants to mention the free radio because he thinks it's a great deal, I've got no beef with that - but then it's under the DJ's control and not some obvoius Sirius-driven commercial. Some DJs being themselves would suck while others being themselves would be great. It'd just be nice to be able to separate them out and get what we'd ultimately like with minimal crap attached to it.

This isn't the 'deliver the herd of listeners to the advertisers model' like regular radio. This is 'Ok - we've paid for it, now give us what we want' model.

I take that back. I got a bit emotional....she's only doing her job...

But still....cut the chatter by 50% at least.

Her name is Nina Blackwood and yes, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

Still, I would rather listen to her talk instead of her usual 12 songs that she plays to death.
