Default Sirius Should Add A News Channel to The Stream.

I'm a news junkie and I love being able to listen to CNN or Fox News without having the TV on, and is a drag not beng able to listen to those channels when I'm in a place where the internet stream or wifi are the only options. I imagine if Sirius hasn't done it by now is because they haven't been able to come to an agreement with either CNN or FOX, but I really wish they could. At this point I'll even take the BBC...

I think they would have to do an inhouse news channel in order for them to be able to stream it. I would love it though if they could do an agreement with CNN/FOX/BBC any of them to allow streaming. I don't see it happening, but it would be great. I have really enjoyed the adding channels recently too, so its not too, too bad.

BBC world service, CNN and Fox News all offer some form of radio over the internet. You don't need Sirius to get it.

That is understood, but the point is it would be nice to have at least one of these service that could be streamed over the wifi. Who wants to lug a PC around when you can just use a small Stiletto?

Lug a PC around? There are PCs everywhere I go, except my car (which has a Sirius radio in it) and the grocery store.

The Stiletto sounds nice, but I can't justify spending $350 just to add the grocery store to the list of places I can hear Sirius.

The fact that you have access to computers everywhere you go is great for you, perhaps the original poster does too, but I am speaking in general terms and I am also adding the Stiletto factor to the equation.

I don't know anyone that is concerned about listening while at the grocery store, so that comment makes little sense to me. Do you know of any grocery stores that offer wifi? I may give it a try. LOL

I have sat in a coffee shop relaxing and listen to some music or talk programming. I've done this at deli's and restaurants too, all the while the Stiletto tucked away in the my pocket. For me to do this without a Stiletto would mean I would have to lug my notebook in there. I don't want check email, I don't want to surf the web, I just want to drink some good coffee, kick back, listen to some tunes or talk programming. I've already spent the money, why shouldn't myself and folks like me get the full benefit of the investment we made? Now I understand this may not interest you or others but I am speaking in general.

The Stiletto is a GREAT little device and well worth $350 in my book. But I concur with the original poster, having some news via wifi would be nice and would indeed add value rather you want to listen via a computer online or via the Stiletto's wifi. My main interest would be via the Stiletto, yours maybe different. But having access in a single place would be GREAT regardless of how you listen.

I would also like to see SIRIUS add some music channels that aren't available via the Sat too due to the limited bandwidth, which would REALLY add value to the SIR Premium service and Stiletto. Yeah I love my Stiletto.

Howard Stern has an option for a 3rd channel. Give it to his news team.

What is the legality reason for not Wifi stream to the Sirus ?
Just money ?? If it is, the Stiletto Marketing group need to rethink strategy.

What exactly do u mean Howard Stern has an option for a 3rd channel? There's a 3rd Howard channel that will be launched shortly?

On several occasions, Howard said on-air that he has the option to program a 3rd channel. To my knowledge there is no plan to do that. They've kicked around the idea of a "classic Stern" channel that plays nothing but archive tapes.

LMFAO!! You know Steve Langford would be favored, and Penny Crone would go through the roof.

....
Thanks for articulating my point in better words than I could have. I have a Stiletto I'm loving it, I love the wifi mode and I wish I could get a news channel while on it. I'd like it on the stream as well, so that way if I'm doing work on the computer while listening to Sirius, I don't have to stop what I'm doing or switch off the Sirius stream to get the news. Hopefully Sirius will do something about it.

I can see the tears flowing now as Penny finds out that Lisa G got the 6pm news anchor position.

I guess its to do with internet streaming rights being sold to other places, but I don't really understand that. You would think the same thing would apply to the terrestrial repeater network, but the full service is available to terrestrial repeater users.
