Default Leo Laporte quitting his radio show

Man, I wish Sirius would try to pick this guy up for a show during the week. Leo is quiting because he doesn't want to work weekends anymore at KFI AM in Cali. I really think he would be an awesome addition to Sirius to see Leo's Tech Show here.

I agree, Sirius needs to pick him up. I guarantee if Sirius doesn't, XM will.

I'd definitely like to see that happen. And bring Patrick Norton aboard too.

I remember the segment Patrick did a few years back, featuring a comparison of XM and Sirius. I believe he gave a slight nod to XM at the time, but Sirius had just started up.

Bring back Kate Botello too. Ultimate geek girl!

I like Leo, I'd like to see, actually hear his TWIT podcast on say Sirius Stars 102. I'd prefer him much more than Barbara WaWa.

His KFI show is too long for me to listen in one sitting. sometimes I used to just read his shownotes.

Default Not So Fast...

In the comments field of one of his TWIT podcasts Leo made the following statement:

Quote:
KFI Show

Submitted by Leo Laporte on Fri, 2006-12-08 18:20

There's been a change since we taped this show a few days ago.

I've agreed to stay at KFI until January 31, 2007, and there's some interest in syndicating it nationally. If that happens, I might just have to stay!

I'll keep you posted.

...so SIRIUS' chance to pick him up would be if KFI does indeed syndicate his show nationally.

about a year ago when I first got sirius I e-mailed them and told sirius to put the TWiT guys on, either as a new show with them discussing tech or answering calls akin to TSS or CFH, or a broadcast of TWiT. That group of TechTV alum are a great group to have, and Sirius would get a good heep of subs from the leo loyalists alone.

I e-mailed leo about it too, and he said it was defiantly a idea that was brought up before, but nothing else so far. Sirius thanked me for the suggestion, and thats it. The PD of talk programming said he couldn't accept outside show suggestions, and said thanks.

WHile they are at it, get the whole crew, not just the direct TWiTs, but the other alum, like the crew of revision3, like kevin, Dan, and Martin. Martin would be a great show host for a unscrewed type show.

Get on it, Sirius!

I remember Leo mentioning in one of his podcasts a while back (not sure which one it was, there's so freakin many of them) that any show he does that's hosted on AOL's Podcast network (TWiT is one of them) can't be on Sirius because AOL has a deal with XM. He said when Adam Curry played TWiT on Podshow, AOL flipped out at him.

I heard Leo mention on one of his podcasts that he would be quitting the KFI show soon. Honestly, unless Sirius offered him major bucks I don't think he would come. Working weekends was part of his decision to quit, but I honestly think his plate is just too full. With his podcasts taking up most of his time, he also has to film Call for Help.

He has also mentioned several times how all the "How do I get spyware off my computer" type questions were starting to get to him. I think he just wants to focus on trying to actually make money off of podcasting.

To anyone who is a fan of Leo are any of the old techtv crew should check out

I just don't see how podcasting is going to make Leo much money. I also emailed and all that right after G4 cancelled the CFH show. Idiots!! I think a tech channel with Leo would be great. Something to listen to after Stern. He already has the content. It would be very sad if he goes to XM.

Thanks for the links. Where do they show "Call for Help" now? I think a TWiT channel on Sirius would be awesome.

Now is the time for all of the fans of both Leo and Sirius to convince Sirius to talk with Leo...
