The reason the unit can't broadcast on the actual repeater frequency is this.. Your neighbor buys the Sirius Repeater. He sets it up in his house and all is good. Then all of a sudden one day he decides to go on vacation for two weeks. He winds up forgetting that he left the repeater on. No biggie so far, right? Well, one day his cat sophie decides to floss her teeth with the antenna cable. She winds up breaking the cable, and now the repeater is broadcasting dead air. Due to the close proximity of your home to his, the repeater in his house is overriding your signal. Welcome to the "Aquiring Signal" channel!

The Current ETA (and I'm not a big fan of giving these out) is March 2. From what I'm told they are on target to meet that date.

Cross your fingers that the Stiletto will eventually be able to handle a 128kbps stream via WiFi? And you won't be charged $3.99/mo extra for it?

Not that it'll ever happen, but if the Stiletto could receive such a stream, you could then build a "base station" repeater that would directly convert the satellite signal to WiFi.

The increased stream would be nice, the big problem is the channel list. There are a lot of stations not streamed at this time, so a sat repeater would be a much better option.

I can't imagine why not.

Here is what the product sheet say about it. For you engineer types it's likely to be a disappointment in terms of the info about it.

"Wireless Repeater System
SIR-WRS1

Create your own Wireless SIRIUS Network and enjoy SIRIUS Satellite Radio throughout your home or office, from up to 75 feet away! The SIR-WRS1 Kit includes one Transceiver one Receiver and an AC Adapter.

Simply place the compact transceiver where it can be connected to your SIRIUS indoor or outdoor antenna or signal routing system, and hook up power via the included AC power adapter. The Transceiver converts the SIRIUS satellite radio signal to 900mHz and transmits it wirelessly to any wireless receiver in range of the transceiver.

The Wireless Receiver connects to any SIRIUS home dock, boom box or docking system with no external power connection - it's powered directly from an antenna port! You can add additional receivers (p/n SIRWRR1 - SRP $49) as needed, if you have more than one SIRIUS radio to connect the the wireless network.

The SIR-WRS1 provides easy signal distribution from one antenna to one or more SIRIUS radios. Enjoy your own Wireless SIRIUS Network with the SIR-WRS1!

In fine print.
Range approximately 75 feet. Based on line of sight, unobstructed testing in ideal conditions. Actual range will vary due to local conditions including but not limited to environment, physical obstructions, transmitter and receiver location and orientation, interference and other possible impediments."

It is now May 9, 2007, and the Sirius Home Repeaters are STILL NOT AVAILABLE?! Supposed to be released in March.

I looked at the crutchfield website and it was still listed as out of stock.

Are these things ever coming out, or are we kidding ourselves?(Merger relatated perhaps?)

And what is so amazing to me about this is that indoor reception is the critical flaw in Sirius' marketing. XM does soooo much better indoors, that I know two people myself who went with them over Sirius for just that reason. There is no downside to the repeater, which is why we are all SO FUCKING MYSTIFIED that it's not released already. XM's has been available for going on two years now. Get a grip Mel.

Must be arriving soon. They're advertising it in the current Crutchfield flyer I received in the mail the other day.

Please do not fool the people who are already confused by this product. Ugh. I know you are kidding, but I truly suspect tons of people think that this is going to be like the Repeaters, but for personal use, and it's not even like that.

It's different because one of the parts has to plug into the Satellite Radio Receiver or Home Kit. The other part is connected to you antenna that is getting already good reception, whether inside or outside.
