The fact that you are saying this right here proves my point. Rush is (would be) a bigger draw than Howie was/is. 8 or 9 cities? Every other show from 12-3 Monday thru Friday is measured against Rush.

Some, like Howard draw/drew the same numbers. I am sure there are even a few cities where some pull ahead. But across this country Rush is the biggest draw on radio. $500 million mostly stock deal or more for Rush and subs more than double.

Like him or not. Most days I don't care for him myself but moderates and even some liberals listen to his show because he calls it like he sees it.

No doubt that, whatever your opion of his show/politics, Rush is the number one show on radio and would be a HUGE coup to whoever signs him. Just based on publicity and listener loyalty/numbers he would be worth more than Stern.

That said, there was a reason that Stern moved to Satellite and there is content on the satellite show that was not on his terrestrial show so there is a qualitative difference between his shows.

With Rush, the show on satellite would be the same show as is currently on terrestrial radio.

I listen to Glenn Beck every morning on XM up to the time I get into the car, it would be nice to have him on Sirius so I can hear him in the car as well.

Other threads have mentioned Phil Hendrie and it would be fun to have him back on the radio.

I'd also like to hear the Sunday show from thebrewingnetwork.com make the transition to Sirius.

I think Clark Howard used to be on XM. I can't remember. This was back then Art Bell was on like three times a day (one live show, and two replays). The talk channels changes so much since I first bought an XM. I don't think it was live. This is a caller driven show, so that's not good.

But yes, this would be great to have Clark Howard on Sirius. My talk listening schedule is so filled, I don't know if I could even fit an hour in unless he was on from 2-3pm EST...

Rush would most definately be a huge draw for either service. I see him being like Stern's deal where he has a channel that plays his show on a loop, and he can "envoke the fourth hour" without resorting to the pay stream.

I don't like his politics (i'm one of them there hellbound liberals) and I don't listen to him, but as a radio guy I can appreciate what he's achieved and his talent. His kool-aid swilling followers would take either sat service to platinum status.

...but I have to say, I'd be the best draw for Sirius.

Indeed, it would be the exact same show that is currently on free radio. The draw for his show isn't lewd sex acts and pornographic humor that can't be aired on AM or FM. His show is about him and his opinion. His followers would go where he is. MILLIONS of people would go and buy a receiver for whichever service Rush ended up on.

I'm not a liberal, more of a moderate conservative so Rush and I aren't on the same page. Doesn't change the fact that he has built an empire and I respect him for that. Sirius or XM would appreciate the fact that he would draw serious sub numbers.

Talking Terrestrial radio hacks

I am thankful that Sirius pays no attention to the opinions posted on this site. The names listed on this thread are terrestrial radio hacks (those that I have heard). I used to listen to them because nothing else was available.

I would like to see Sirius expand the talk show lineup but not by using talk hosts who follow the old, tired paradigm of terrestrial radio.

Why would people rush to buy Sirius to get Limbaugh when he is already everywhere on terrestrial?

I think Tom Green would be a great person to have a show as well as Paul Mooney as someone said earlier!

Yes, but with Stern there was a creative reason for moving to satellite which is almost certainly the only reason he switched to a new distribution model which had a very high cost of entry for his listeners. In Rush's case he has no incentive to move off of terrestrial radio.

Now, if some of the anti-free speech people in the Senate and House push through a new Fairness Doctrine Rush may actually have enough incentive to make the big move. For the sake of the first amendment I hope that doesn't happen.

Just like Howie, don't leave Rush on AM. Move him over to satellite as an exclusive. When Rush heads can't get their fix from CC, they WILL buy a receiver for the service that he is on.

One of the two will sign him. The one that does will see a big boost.
