Whoie goes back to when Whoie was on air in Cincinnati. I tried his show a time or two and couldn't get in the groove. Always stuck with Bob and Tom until their act wore thin on me. But us old timers in Northern Kentucky have been calling him Whoie for an awfully long time.

And most of Whoies money was in stock. Still a fact.
My post was just a parody of an old Stern bit about OJ Simpson when a newscaster was informed the call he just took was a farce becuse the caller said something in code ("Baba Booey") indicative of " a certain shock jock" (Stern). No offense intended....

I didn't get it. I'm not so up on my classic Howard stuff. No offense was taken though. It was just an explanation.

I would say Neil Rogers in Miami. Loved Phil Hendrie when he was on here as well. As for Rogers, I believe he was going to be offered a position with Howard several years back when Howard was contemplating starting his own network. (Long before Sirius) Of course it never came about. Howard even mentioned him at one point, though not by name, several years ago.

As for Rush, I don't believe he would be offered the kind of money Howard was offered, I don't think he would take anything less than what Howard was offered, and finally I don't see his audience as being the type that would subscribe for him in the same numbers that Howard's are.

I heard once that his ratings aren't all that great anyway, but since he is on something like 600 stations he gets huge audiences just by saturation.

I've mentioned these before, but:

Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton - I'd like to see these guys actually get their own SIRIUS-produced show much in the vein of a "Screen Savers" and "Call for Help" combination--not just have their TWIT podcast replayed.

Chuck Nice - Yes, the same guy who is the comedic sidekick on "The Radio Chick" and does VH1's "Best Week Ever". I thought he was easily the best part of that show when it aired on SIRIUS and would like to see him come back over and do his own thing on Stars 102.

Someone like Art Bell - We obviously won't get him so I'd like to see someone similar to him get a show on SIRIUS. I love Riley Martin, but wouldn't mind having a slightly more "down to earth" (no pun intended) alternative.

I do, I have close relatives that ARE Rush-heads and have talked to them all about this since this topic started. All (none of whom have any interest in satrad) said that they would sign up in a minute to either service that had Rush. I don't know that they fit the typical Rush profile in terms of income or career because I don't know what that is. I know they fit the "listens every day to every minute of the show" profile though.

If Whoie is worth 2-3 million subs I would bet everything that I have double or nothing that Rush would be worth 4-6 million. In the same year or less time frame. I still wouldn't be a regular listener of his, but I don't hate him.

One of the reasons Rush has as many listeners as he does is because he's on in the afternoon. There is very little competition that time of day. Put Rush in morning drive and you'll see his numbers drop fast.

Several reasons, not the least of which is his lack of credibility.

Howard Stern is strictly for entertainment, obviously. Rush is a right-wing infotainer (his word) who fancies himself an expert on all matters pertaining to the right, and far right. If he were to suddenly bolt to pay radio it is my feeling that many of his listeners would jump to the next link in the political disinformation infotainment chain, and there are quite a few.

I could be wrong, maybe I am, but I don't see nearly as many paying for his brand of talk when there are a flood of right-wing talkers out there to pick up the slack.

In whose eyes? Yours? That is an opinion that a great many of his listeners wouldn't agree with. I don't listen and I don't agree that he lacks credibility. As you say "several reasons" offer up one that isn't an opinion. Give me a "reason" why Rush wouldn't work. In the ears of his (insert number cause I don't know) listeners he doesn't lack credibility.

And this is where I think that you are wrong. A great many of his listeners are loyal and want to hear him. I have heard him say that he is an infotainer. Another word for "entertainer", like Whoie.

Why should anyone think that it would somehow work out differently for Rush than it did Whoie? I don't. I think you could get the same percentage of Rush listeners to come as you got from Whoie. I don't give Whoie credit for the entire 6 million subs since he signed, but the publicity from his signing went a long way. So would Rush's signing.
