Default Got special permission from work to run an antenna onto the roof...

I'm not allowed to stream music over the internet, nor would I want to cause our server sucks, but I asked the powers that be at my place of employment if I could run a sirius antenna onto the roof (roof is double steel and I'm surrounded by concrete, so no reception with it inside) and to my surprise and enjoyment they said yes. So I found a now defunct vent and ran some wire up to the roof. Took me the antenna and the extra 50 foot antenna extension to get it into my room, but hey they said yes and I'm so freakin happy. Just figured I'd share my excitement

What kind of companies do you work for? My company would laugh at me if I asked.

I've been at my company for 12 years now, so I know alot of people and have some pull. My room is the only room in the plant that gets away with blasting tunes all day long, but I guess its cause the upper management is used to it after all these years. Look at it this way, I work in whats called the laser room, but everyone else in the plant calls it the lazy room, but I think its just cause they're all jealous, lol.

I was thinking about running the wires up into the ceiling tiles and pull my antenna over to the window across the hall from me, but I found I get a great signal in the server room, so now I just hide out there mostly.

The lazy room, that's a good one...

I was lucky enough to be able to do the same thing. My old building had NO WINDOWS! We recently moved into an old hangar and are lucky enough to have 3 windows on the 3rd floor. There are now 3 antennas hanging out of those windows. I had to get a 50 ft extension, but the other guys I work with are actually in the offices with the windows. I have influenced 3 guys who I work with to get Sirius, two of them used to be XM subs. I'm so excited to be able to listen to music all day again!

We asked the landlord about putting up an antenna on the roof and they were going to charge us per square foot of area we utilized. The cost was ridiculous.

In addition they wanted roofers to come in to do the installation. They also charge us for additional air conditioner space on the roof as well for our computer room.

I ended just running my antenna from an inside office over to the window sill. A 50 ft extension was needed but it works fairly well. Every once in a while I get a dropped signal then I move the antenna slighty one way or another depending on the time of the day.

Sometimes landlords can be jerks.

Stick a micro-dot on top of the airconditioner, they can't double charge you for the same space.

That's awesome. I bet more people would be allowed to do this if they just simply asked.

Congrats Dog Now you can really enjoy the service!

Too bad SIRIUS doesn't offer the Personal Repeater like XM has. This way all you'd have to do is buy the repeater antenna that plugs into your dock and BAM you'd be setup. Everyone in the office that wanted it could, all with one antenna and repeater setup.

Yeah, I don't think Sirius gets what it's missing out on by not offering a personal repeater.
