Anyone have trouble with listening online with Firefox?

Just tried it and it won't work. Says I'm missing plug ins and then directs me to download IE7.....

There are ways to get Firefox to work, but it's not worth the effort.

I've never had any problems using 1.5 or 2.0.

I don't have any trouble listening with Firefox under windows, although the current playing line doesn't work.

You do need the Windows Media Player plugin.

Never had problems with it. It wont allow you to view who is currently playing but otherwise no trouble.

FF rocks here. No effort needed. If you want to talk about effort , continously updating IE takes more effort than loading a little plugin LoL

Can anyone provide a link? I can only find plug-ins for Netscape.

I have yet to try the following
http://reickenbacker.com/SIR/Player/

I did find a script someone wrote that is supposed to run in the bottom toolbar of Firefox, but it as well seems to fall short in actually playing...I can log in, etc, but that's it...

Here it is if anyone wants it:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3546/

Any help is appreciated. I hate using IE, and haven't used Netscape in years.

It still says I am missing a plugin but it works....

Firefox has a flash plugin, that will fix errors.
Flash can display ads on websites (downfall).
You wont get the songs to show ever.
Firefox is still the best.

The error isn't caused by a missing Flash plugin. There are two ways to do a plugin in a web page. The old Netscape method is the <embed> tag. The current way (with both IE and Firefox) is the <object> tag. For compatibility, you can nest an <embed> inside an <object>. If the <object> tag is recognized, the <embed> is ignored because it's not valid inside <object>. If <object> isn't recognized it's ignored and the <embed> is used.

Sirius's web player uses this method, but it identifies the <object> as "application/x-oleobject" rather than "application/x-mplayer2". This generates the "missing plugin" message from Firefox. Since this tag fails, the <embed> is used instead.

The missing titles is a different issue. When the title/artist changes, the media player generates an event that includes the new text. There's some extra coding that needs to be done to catch plugin events in Firefox, but they haven't done it.

Just use the Yahoo widget or one of the many fine independently produced Sirius media players available. Just search SBS and you'll find links. They're way better than the official Sirius player.

Here's one:

And another:

Dude, are you running Windows XP Media Center? If so you cannot listen to Sirius online, because when Microsoft created the Media Center version of XP, they left out a TON of dll's needed to make firefox use Windows Media Player.

Hope that helps...

Hm, Back when i had Firefox 1.0 and my old SAT radio I used to listen via firefox and didn't worry about song names. Then I bought a Stiletto and listen to it via WiFi even when on computer. I just tried with Firefox 2.0 and it gives me the same error. If I wanted to listen on my comp, I would use the MSS (My Sirius Studio for those of you without stilettos.
