Default power cord

i have a starmate 3. it uses the universal home kit. now i have a question. i have a spare antenna (xm)--yes it works ..and i even have a spare power cord (xm) it works but i am scared to use it. my question. is it ok to use an xm cord on my home kit? i am always moving the kit from room to room. also if not can i use the power cord from a starmate replay? or xact? those kits are 10.00 at my wal mart. yes i said 10 bucks! i will buy that kit if the cord will be ok with my current kit. it looks like the same cord but i cant be sure. oh and the starmate replay is 20.00....(the radio not the kit)

The Starmate 3 uses 5 volts... The Starmate Replay and Xact power cords won't work. They are 12 volts.. they'll damage your radio.. (The plug size is different and they won't fit in your Starmate 3 home dock anyway)

If your XM power plug is 5 Volts positive center, and can supply at least 600 mA, and physically fits in the home dock..,, Then yes, it should work. If you aren't certain, then don't use it.

Most XM homekit power supplies spit 6VDC. Now this is not dramatic and you could use it but in prolongued use, my guess is that it will damage the input resistors of your Sirius equipment not to mention shorten the life of the backlight used for the display.

A 5VDC device will suffer more from a 1 volt difference than let's say a 12V device connected to a 14V source. In the case of the Starmate Replay for example, its input voltage is rated at 9VDC to 16VDC, now that's rugged!
