Unhappy Finally did it!

Well, I finally did it. That's right...I've made the switch back to FM. Why you might ask? Well, it was the superiority of it all:

* Superior reduction in sound quality.
* Superior in song repetition.
* Superior rambling DJ's.

But what really hooked me was the superior commercials. All of this has led to a vast improvement in my driving since I don't have to look at what songs are playing anymore!

Actually my in-dash radio went out and I'm left with my old factory radio. It does a cruddy job picking up the FM signal from my Sirius, so I'm left with only FM. Let me tell you how much I'm missing Sirius right now. :-(

Beyond pain. Beyond suffering. Its FM.

Only good news is that my other radio is under warranty and will get fixed. If anyone has any suggestions for improving the FM signal, please let me know (I have a Sportster 4). It would be VERY MUCH appreciated!

fm mods suck. you need a direct connection. or a hard wired modulator. at the very least get an xm roady xt or skyfi 2. xm is better than fm! actually 2 dogs barking in your back seat is better than fm! oh and those fm mods in the skyfi 2 and roady xt's go about 1/4 mile my starmate 3's fm mod goes about 2 feet. its worthless.

Wired FM modulator($20), search the forums for info. I installed mine in 30 minutes and have no experience with car radios or am I mechanically inclined.

This is one of the reasons I keep my S50. The transmitters on the old units are a helluva a lot stronger. I can pick up the single a block away from my house.

Just for fun, have you checked out Sirius's FM Finder? Perhaps it'll find a station that will work well with your car radio.

If your factory radio has a cassette player, a tape adapter would avoid the hassle of pulling it again to put the wired FM adapter in.

The wired FM adapter works great, though. I have one in my car and if SIRIUS is turned on (always), I can hit the seek button and it scans all the way through and lands back on the frequency I am transmitting SIRIUS on. It mostly blocks out all radio stations, even the strong ones. Even it it doesn't completely block the station you are transmitting on, it seems to weaken it enough that even the weak transmitters in the Starmate 4 can overpower it.

SInce you obviously know how to pull the radio, get the wired FM Relay. You'll be glad you spent the $20. When I traded in my car for my new one, I left it in. I went to CC and bought another one the next day. The FM Relay helps sound quality a lot.

Does your exterior car FM antenna unscrew? If so, do this. It is a good short term fix and will help prevent a FM station from flooding into your SIRIUS radio audio.

The signal from Xact Visor is so weak, that when I remove the FM antenna fromt the car, I can't even pick up the Visor.

I thought all the XACT Visors had very good FM transmitters. They quit making them (Visors) before the FCC made SIRIUS tone down the transmitter signal.

It could be the actual FM radio. I hope it works out for you.

I have an old xact visor. The transmitter on it was strong.

The wired FM modulator relay (#14110) has been discontinued and replaced.

What you need is the FM Direct Adapter, #FMDA25. Only twenty bucks, and will make a world of difference.
