Default Both Area 33 and the Beat are honestly a disgrace compared to XM

It really pisses me off that the main reason i love satellite is the dance/trance stations that you dont get on the main radio.

I love Howard and if only Area 33 and the Beat were good i would totally stay with Sirius but they just suck.

Area 33 has the most limited playlist, not only that they have too much of this guest DJ or groove radio or other shit that just flat out sucks. Vonyc Sessions with PvD is good, but not amazing.

The System on XM has State of Trance with Armin (now #1 DJ in the world), Trance around the World and a whole slew of other good stuff. Plus the music they play on the System is actually good trance.

BPM plays the best dance music whereas the Beat seriously has some issues, idk what the hell is on that station.

Its just terrible really that i switch on Area 33 going to work on a 3 hours shift and hear the same song when i get back in the car.

I think Area 33's mixshows are awesome, and the diversity of the DJs and sets on Groove Radio is great a wonderful asset to the channel...but no doubt the playlist STILL needs to be widened.

I know how that is. It seemed that when I got back in my car after 10 hours of work it was the same songs playing. I could almost predict what song came on next. They do have some songs on that The System does not play, but Area 33 plays them to death. I also like some of the mixes they play, like Groove Radio and some of the Invasion mixes. But I find myself more at "home" with The System with a wider selection of tracks and a kick ass mixshow on every afternoon and night.

BTW, congrats to Armin van Buuren for reaching #1 on the DJ Mag 100.

Pisses me off that during Sirius' mixshows, they have to drop in a lame ass drop/Station ID. They do it every couple of songs on XM. It messes up the flow of the mix, esp when you are really into the set.

Yeah it seems like Area 33 plays the same songs over and over, that is why I listen more to The System or BPM.

It's been that way since 2003.

No end in sight.

Switch to XM.

i don't mind the station bumpers in the mixes if they are done right as i think they can actually add to the music ie when they have the hushed female voice repeating "area 33" or some of the BBC's (you know the one's). however, i can not STAND the one where they practically scream out "area 33" over and over and over.

I agree, I qwit enjoy the hushed female voice repeating "area 33", As for them repeating songs to often.....Well...Ya..It does seem like they do repeat songs to often, But hey at lease we have BBC Radio 1 for the weekends,

I agree that Area 33 repeats too often--it seems songs from a year ago will pop up every once in a while (like Playground) and then it disappears again. The mixshows are pretty kick-ass, though. They are what keeps the station going. I just wish they would keep some of the older songs in the rotation. If they would hang on to some of the old ones and add in new stuff faster, they could have a great deep varied playlist. The bumpers don't bother me. I wish we could have the System on Sirius... Too bad it's going away after the merger. I stopped listening to the Beat a couple months ago. Maybe we'll get BPM after the merger.

I tried XM for a bit online and I didn't really like BPM at all. Of course I never liked "The Beat" on Sirius either. The only good dance station I liked on XM was The System. I may be in the minority but I honestly find that Area 33's mix-shows are better than The System. It looks like when the merge happens, The System will be merging with Area 33. This probably means we can expect to starting hearing Armin Van Buuren's ASOT every week on Area 33.
