Default BBC RADIO 1 UPDATE:

this tuesday @ 9:am The Radio 1 schedule will be time-shifted for American audiences, so you'll be able to enjoy the lineup as it's heard in the UK—including The Chris Moyles Show in the morning, Scott Mills in the afternoon, and Essential Selection with Pete Tong on Friday nights.

Yes Radio 1 will be on channel 97 for now starting 8/9. It's in the POP catagory online. However, you may not be able to access the stream online until the debut.

This is great news because next weekend is Radio 1's weekend in Ibiza!

Seems like there must have been a delay with the launch of Radio One. I turned on this morning expecting to start hearing the programming and it is still running the demo loop.

BBC Radio 1 works but I wish Sirius would fix the channel display. It doesn't actually say "BBC" or anything like that on my PNP3, it only says "Sirius" for the channel name.

Sirius must have heard you..

I just looked at the display at around 9:00 eastern time.. It still says Sirius by the channel number, but now they they have "BBC Radio 1" in large letters where the artist info would be, and they're scrolling the DJ names and show info where the song info is normally displayed.

Maybe it will come later or when they move to another channel?

Sirius does not normally display artist/title information on channels that are not programmed by Sirius. Radio Disney was like this for about a year, just scrolling the name of the show but eventually Sirius figured a why to encode the song/artist information.

With Radio One this is even more important because they play such amazing music that is not known to folks in the USA.

I don't see why they bothered with this big waste of bandwith and the programming is not to good.

I'd hardly call it a waste of bandwidth. Radio 1 is one of the most popular broadcasting stations on the planet. They're also very well known for their dance programming which is on during the weekends.

Unfortunately it was confirmed in the main thread in the Cafe that Radio 1 doesn't transmit the artist and song info, including their own RDS and DAB service in the UK
