I am not impressed with anything I have heard on BBC. Nothing has stood and and made me say wow. I would much rather listen to the Beat, Remix, and Area 63 anyday it fits my preferred style of dance music alot more. To those of you that like BBC good for you but not my cup of tea.

Lovetodance, we understand that you don't like it. You stated that clearly in three or four posts. However, it appears that you are in the minority here. If you don't like it then don't listen.

NH that is the wrong attitude the if you don't like it don't listen. We all pay for a service and have the right to voice our opinions. I am with lovetodance and agree BBC1 including it's dance programming is a waste let's support music here in the USA and stop killing our bandwith with Asian,UK, Canadian and chinese programming we have 130 channels why should we lose them for canadians the uk and asians?? I bet you in September when they go through the new lineup changes you won't be happy when some of your favorite channels disappear for foreign content. Support the US and US music.

Oh MY GOD!! with that stupid attitude you aint going no where. I mean dance music has no freaking borders! Imagine a World of dance Music with no PAUL VAN DYK, TIESTO, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, FERRY CORSTEN, PAUL OAKENFOLD, M.I.K.E., BLANK AND JONES ++++ MANY MANY MORE....JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT A WORLD OF ONLY USA MUSIC!!!! What a freaking racist comment to make.. DO we really need 10+ Channels of ROCK Music, 4 LOVE MUSIC STATIONS???? Lets support dance music...

What a lame comment. Support the US music you say, sure lets get rid of everything you say, guess classic rock will lose all those great bands from the UK that everyone loves. Europe is the mecha of all electronica and thats a fact. And not till now has any of the sattilite radio providers in the US let us let us hear the new and latest dance tracks and massive DJs till Siruis added Radio 1. Not even XM can dissagree that this was a bad move for Sirius. Unless you want this to be Nazi Radio and play only music from the US I think we should accept all forms of music around the world. Although that why a lot of FM stations here suck in US and you can hear how good they are over in Europe.

I'm going to echo the last few statements by making this comment:

"American media including radio/television generally sucks"

Thank god Sirius is realizing that the reason many of us subscribe to Satellite radio due to the hope that as subscribers, we can escape from the parochial confines of most media in the USA. BBC Radio 1 is welcome indeed.

Not even being a british citizen I'd have to say I'd gladly pay the licence fee that UK residents pay to get all the BBC radio/television stations. Honestly I wish the USA had a similar system of broadcasting, it would actually improve the quality around here for a change.

Do you honestly think most dance music is created and produced in the US? I can tell you with confidence that it's not. In comparison to the rest of world the US enjoys dance music the least. That is why we barely have any commercial dance stations in this country. In fact, in order for a dance tune to be remotely accepted by most of the american public it has to have an extremely catchy pop element to it. Why? Because it's provincial attitudes like yours that keeps everything status quo here. You find your niche and then close your mind to everything else. The same goes for a large percentage of the US population that believes music isn't music unless it's produced with real instruments or contains lyrics.

I hope that you come to realize that the US is not the only country in the world. An open mind and a little culture won't hurt you. You can enjoy what the world has to offer without being unpatriotic to your country you know.

As for Lovetodance, I didn't knock him/her for expressing their opinion. I'll admit that my post came off a little harsher than was intended and for that I apologize. What I was trying to address was the fact that in the two threads or so I saw the same negative comment totaling 3 or 4 postings. For those of us that were enjoying Radio 1, lovetodance's post was a bit of a downer for a station that caters to such a broad range of dance music. What really got to me was there wasn't any substance to the posts. If you don't like something why not give examples of why you don't like it rather than say simplistic things like, "BBC 1 is a waste of bandwidth". At that point one would be inclined to say something like, "change the channel if you don't like it". I mean come on why torture yourself, right? You won't catch me posting things like, "Classic Rewind is a waste of bandwidth" Do I care for the channel? No, not really. But I do respect it's existance because I know there are people that enjoy it.

Additionally, did you happen to notice the Radio 1 thread in the cafe is one of the largest threads on this site containing a number of subscribers that are happy Radio 1 was added to Sirius? The beauty of Sirius is the fact that you have so many choices to choose from. If you don't like something move on.

Also, do you honestly think Sirius is going to axe alot of their current channels in favor of foreign broadcasts? The fact is nobody here knows exactly how much free bandwidth Sirius has. My guess, and a guess at that, would be that the extra bandwidth Sirius set aside for video purposes, which we know for a fact they have, will probably be used for the new channels in the fall. Currently it appears that Sirius isn't going to be launching their video service anytime soon. A further educated guess would be that they probably intend on using the newly created 25% bandwidth for video and other non-audio applications since the current tuners can't receive the bandwidth anyway. That said, I'm not fearing a tidal wave of loss like you appear to be.

I think Radio 1 is a compliment to the Sirius Dance lineup. Am I gonna stop listening to the other channels just because its on now? Hell no. Its not even Pure Dance 24/7. But they do have Good mixshows and play more dance songs than any other Pop channel. I do think they talk alittle too much. Kinda reminds me of KTU and how their always interrupting the mixes with chatter over it. But its a good addition.

Hi folks,i live in the uk and only found out about sirius from listening to radio 1.I think its great that you can now listen to it on a radio rather than just online,i was curious also about your comments about the station and its pleasing to hear that the majority of people think its great, anyway i just wanted to comment on siriusobsessions post about supporting homegrown usa music, you may aswell give up now because the world is getting smaller everyday, and im sure the day will come where you can listen or watch anything that is being broadcast worldwide, so loose the blinkers mate! im sure the us music industry won't mind a little competition anyway. p.s nhtracker you know your stuff man

Default Radio One Rocks

I have been listening to Radio One for years online. I had recorded DJ sneak off a dialup stream back in 97! It was amazing what was played and everyone who heard it was amazed that such music was actually being broadcasted. I dearly love the addition of BBC R1 as much as I like the Sirius streams the playlist isnt as deep as id like and didnt expect the rotation to be as heavy as it is. I DIDNT EVEN EXPECT A ROTATION! If the sing along in Ibiza recorded live didnt send shivers up your spine then I truely feel sorry for you. Dance fans rejoice

Why I choose sirius over XM - Dance Music
