Combining Area 63 & Boombox would work, as long as the channel has an identity. So should Sirius: 1) make the new channel hard dnb/big breaks/hard trance & goa trance; or 2) make different shows during the day such as 3-6pm is "big breaks" to entertain in traffic or "goa trance" during late night hours?

Other suggestions? To be honest, BBC's regular trance and drum & bass shows are so good, I could stand losing Boombox, Area63 and the Beat or combine them into one channel to keep the playlist fresh, and keep Strobe (disco/late 70s hits), Remix (house) and Chill (electronica/adult contemporary).

They are not going to do anything to The Beat. If anyone thinks they will they are mistaken. It is the flagship channel for the dance genre.

I agree. I don't think they'll touch "the Beat". And I certainly hope they don't. "The Beat" and "Area 63" are the dance channels I listen to the most, so those are the ones that I hope stay the same. If changes are made, I hope it is at "Boombox", "Chill", "the Strobe" or "Remix". Just leave "the Beat" and "Area 63" alone. (especially now that "Area 63" has added more dj's and more trance and a better playlist recently).

I think those who suggested merging Boombox with Area 63 have quite a unique taste, which I think most dance music fans do not share. I personally can't figure out how one can listen to both trance and whatever Boombox is playing, let alone on one channel. There is already a similar supereclectic channel - Sirius Disorder, I think it's enough for now

yea it was nice when Area63 got rid of the IDs but their playlist is still really small. I think evertime I go to it I either see "Say Hello" or John Gabriels "Alive".

The suggestion of merging Area 63 and Boombox and then having shows over a shchedual like Radio 1 would be awsome! I know a lot of people have trouble listing to Boombox, but geez Area63 is just so bland after awhile. We need more gernes in one channel!!

Default Don't Delete Remix 62!

I don't think sirius will mess with Remix 62 since they've added so MANY new big name mixshows and many new mixers recently. I think they would get lots of complaints if this channel were to be deleted. Just imagine how much of a MESS it would be to move all those new mixshows and mixers around to the other dance streams. I listen to remix 62 more than any other channel on sirius and it makes the dance category a lot more exciting to know that you can tune in at ANY time (except Sundays) and find a mixshow. This is what made my decision to subscribe to sirius vs. XM.

I have asked my buddy who works at Sirius, he tells me.. The Dance stations look very safe.. He also adds that Sirius thinks they have an edge on XM in the Dance group. He did hint that there might be some little changes to the playlist...Time will tell...

Great news! Hopefully this is true and we won't lose any dance channels at all. That would be the best thing for everyone.

Default Move Boombox to the Hip-Hop Category

At any rate, I do wish Boombox would be moved to the hip-hop category because that's where it really does belong. It would be interesting to find out what other channels the fans of Boombox listen to...I bet they listen to some of the hip-hop channels. I do know some listen to Chill, but I would imagine most don't really listen to much in the dance group outside of Boombox.

If they do make adjustments to the playlists I hope that these adjustments mean that they're adding classic dance to one of the channels or adding a specialty show that lasts more than just an hour or two on one of the channels. I think a 12 or 24 hour (maybe at bit too long) freestyle show on the Strobe would be great! Remix fans lose the mixshows for 12 hours on Sundays so why can't the strobe fans lose disco for 12 hours once a week?

Any change to the playlist of The Beat will be welcome. They just can't make it worse than what it is now.

At first I didn't like Boombox but I find myself listening to it more and more these days. However that's when they are playing mixes or remixes, when it's pure breaks/beats I flip over to another station. For reference the only hip/hop I listen to is BackSpin.

And YES they have to do something about the playlist on The Beat, it seems they don't play any recent (IE within the last three years) big dance hits at all. I have heard a few old Freestyle tunes so there is hope.

For the record, I LOVE Boombox the most out of all the Dance stations (not sure it should be in the dance category though). It's what XM's "The System" was supposed to be for, but somewhere along the line, they lost their vision.

I hope they don't make any changes or get rid of remix, the beat or area 63. Boombox and chill can fall out of the lineup and I could care less since they aren't dance channels anyway.
