Default Remix 62

I understand that life is full of changes. But, from a Music Programers perspective, the dropping of Remix from the Dance selections seems like a really bad move. BoomBox and Chill are a little more in the niche if you ask me. And would be more of the target for dismissal.

Now if the take some of the mixes from Remix and put them on the Beat and Boombox, that might just work. And add a weekend Disco and Classic Dance Show on Strobe, you might have something there.

yeah I wouldn't have cared if Boombox or Chill were removed. Honestly, since they are adding a "New Age" station anyhow, Chill seems a little redundant. I think most would actualy prefer a pure "new age" station than chill since it won't have all the accoustic stuff.

Default Remix Removal

I can't even begin to explain the fact that I purchased Sirius for this channel and this channel alone kills me. Why would they keep 2 crappy non dance channels in the dance category? Remix was one of the most mentioned stations on the forum and gets killed? These corporate morons at Sirius need to wake up it's 2005 and Dance is barely available on FM so aggravated dance fans like myself came to Sirius. I will make this short and sweet if there aren't mixshows everyday on the only 2 real dance stations left I am gone along with my 5 accounts.

I'm angry as well, Being a DJ and Muisc Programmer, one on the main reasons for me joining was for Remix, 1st Wave and Wax. Now 2 of my 3 channels have been delt with the AXE.

I will give it a go for a month after the changes and see how it goes. But, i will say XM is in the back of my mind.

I haven't really been much of a "dance" music fan, and I do appreciate the Chill channel (I'm into the accoustic stuff, and it's too hip-hoppish to be a substitute for new-age). However, I also have sympathy for you guys. Of the new channels to be added, there is a rock channel and a talk channel that I feel are very out of place on subscription radio (those types of stations are available on the FM dial in probably every geographic area). I did get a genre I wanted, but aparrently at the expense of one of my favorites, Swing Street. I wish you all the best and good luck with getting your mix music back. I'm listening to Remix now and I agree, it should stay at the expense of any misplaced full-on hip hop channels.

That pisses me off too. Too much Soft Adult Contemporary like New Age and Chill. They could've merged Chill with Spa and had a seperate chill show on that channel.

I do NOT believe the Breaks/Old School Rap format of Boombox is more popular than Remix. Wasn't The Boombox and Chill the creation of the programmer Sirius hired last year? Would explain the bias towards these quasi-dance channels.

The Sirius Shuffle? This is the kind of crap squeezing bandwith away from Remix to exist. Its just a copycat FM jack channel. It will probably be the same crap you hear on the Classic Rock stations mixed with 80's music and a few 90's music like ultra safe Mariah Carey fluff.

I've been defending Sirius from technologies like HD Radio but if this is the way were treated, I just might have to root for the other medias soon like HD Radio and Wifi.

Sirius's recent actions with regards to removing Remix and adding a channel like "Sirius Shuffle" are starting to indicate that perhaps Sirius isn't right for me and maybe I'd be happier with XM. It just seems to me that Sirius is trying to be too "mainstream", or too much like "FM radio". I know that some people have complained that XM's playlists are too obscure, but honestly I think that's a better problem to have than being too "mainstream". I'm not someone that EVER listens to Top40 style FM radio, I bought Sirius to hear things I can never hear on the radio (like 24/7 dance mixing). I'm trying out the free-trial of XM right now and so far I like this "system" channel they have, I'll have to try the others but I'm thinking more and more that XM might be more right for me.

It just seems so weird to me that they were improving Remix so much by adding so many new shows recently just to dump it now?

I'm starting to think like the guy in this review of Sirius:

Wow this has been 1 crazy night my phone has not stopped ringing and I have literally received over 100 emails no exaggeration. I truly do appreciate all the kind words and support from they loyal listeners. In all honesty I do not know where any of the DJ's from Remix stand at this point it's all up in the air. Like I said Sirius and doing mixes has been part of me sincer the Rave days and I truly appreciate the opportunity I had to break out new dance music. I was very dedicated to the music and the station. Is this an end of a era yes but hey none of us know Sirius's intentions at this point so don't give up hope they might just do what you guys have suggested and spread the DJ's out over the other dance channels but only time will tell. There is still another month of Remix left so enjoy it. I promise you all this will not be the last you hear of me whether it's on Sirius or elsewhere. Just keeps your heads up and we will all make it through this together. This may not be the end of a relationship and imight just be a new beginning but you never know.

I also hate to see "Remix" go. I would have preferred for them to cut either "Boombox" or "Chill". But I think their thinking is that they can cut "Remix" and move some of the mix shows to "the Beat" and "Area 33". I would expect some trance type mixers to end up on "Area 33" and some of the house/pop mixers to end up on "the Beat". (probably sometime in the evenings and weekends on those channels).
I am glad to see them adding classic dance to "the Strobe". I hope it is at least 50 percent 80's/90's dance (freestyle/house/hi-nrg, etc.) and not the same ol' disco with an occasional 80s/90s song once an hour.
Someone also mentioned the new "Sirius Super Shuffle" channel. I am actually very happy with this announcement. I really like the "Jack FM" ("playing anything") type format, and I'm glad Sirius is bringing it to satellite radio and beating XM to the punch. It will definately be a new preset for me. Overall, the only dissapointment for me on the changes is the loss of "Remix". I like all the other changes. I guess one loss out of all the changes isn't too bad for me. "The Beat" and "Area 33" are my favorite dance channels, so I'm very happy they stayed. "Remix" was my 3rd choice for dance. (I never listen to "Boombox" or "chill" and as I said, I would have preferred for those to be axed instead).

Hey Ladies & Gents,

Thought I would take the time to thank all of you for your continued support over all these years. I enjoyed doing my mixshows for The Rave and then Remix. Unfortunately, either way I will not being doing anymore mixes for Sirius. I have resigned over the summer do to personal reasons (Married) and other "Determining" factors. I know some of you have stated that if the "Regional Bunch" are not ALL back on some stream that you will cancel. Well, I will not be one of them but I can't speak for the others. However, if you still want to cancel your subscriptions over me that's awesome LOL

I am personally more upset myself over Vacation and now Swing Street being gone. However, life is full of choices. Don't let anyone tell you different. To quote the Crusade Knight from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade "You must choose, but choose wisely".

I will be taking my website down in October. So if you wish to leave me a goodbye entry in my guestbook feel free to at www.joeyrivaldo.com

Anyways, it's been real! You all know how to keep in touch with me!

So Cheers Mate!
Joey
