First of all, to Mike Bordes, Art Rooney, and Joey Rivaldo thanks for taking the time to post. I must say I think its low class to not inform the DJ's about the demise of Remix at least a little in advance. Especially you veterans that have been mixing for so long. Remix had really been adding a lot of new mixers lately too. It didn't look like an end to that station was coming. I truly hope they find homes for your guys on the other channels.

This is actually probable the first of the three major channel changes (Vortex-Chill and the Boombox debut last summer) that I am actually ok with. Hear me out. I really think that if Sirius is doing this, the best mixers will be carried over to the Beat, Area, etc.

Sirius dance is an interesting place. There was little to no specialty mixshows/programming on the other stations. I guess it made since while they had a dedicated 24/7 channel. But to be honest, as much as I loved the mixers, I never "loved" Remix. One of my favorite mixers was Angelo Fecci. I never heard him anymore once the schedules were put in place. I could never be at a place to catch his shows. Sometimes Remix was so hit or miss for me, depending on the DJ/show on at that time, that it was always in my Top 10 presets, but never a station to die for.

With Remix going away, I see some things already at work on the other channels. 1. The Beat has already gotten very agressive with new music, adding more songs than I can keep up with. 2. The Beat has cut back on the older music too. Now we know why. With the Strobe going classic dance, the Beat can continue on the path it is already on...morphing into more of a current, based, deeper Dance/Club hits station a la BPM. That means having mixshows. And so I think some of our favorites from Remix will be getting a call soon to tell them they will be on The Beat now. Or depending on their style, maybe on Area 63.

Chill I can appreciate. Boombox doesn't really do anything to me. The Beat getting better and Area 63 getting deepr would be huge wins.

I guess the reason I am not fuming as much...is because we actually got a classic dance station. My Top 10 presets will pretty much stay the same, except I'll be adding the Strobe where Remix used to be.

Lets see what happens. If this is goodbye to Mike, Aneglo, Art, etc it is the latest in a history of dumb moves from Sirius in the dance department....but I hope to still see (and hear) you guys around. You are all great and I appreciate all you have done. Joey, best wishes man. You will be missed!

Anyone remember Freestyle_Pete's predictions that Remix was going away many months ago. Be careful who you scoff at? He knew something you didnt.

We have seen some excellent playlist suggestions for classic dance posted in this forum. If the new Strobe is half that good....I can't wait.

I would like to pass some info to you that has come to my attention. The dance department has been fighting for you “the listeners” and for us “the mixshow guys” to keep this station alive. They are a great bunch of people down there in NY (I’m up here in Boston) and trust me when I tell you they fought for us. It is the higher up people that I do not know that made the decision. You can’t tell Donald Trump what to do!

Hmm... I just wrote them and I got an SPF error back in my e-mail box. If anyone uses the customer service page and your domain has a hard SPF record you will get a bounce too. Just resend your message to the "To" address that appears in the e-mail. For example the something_AT_sirius-radio.com

I have already informed them of the issue. I just hope the person that reads my e-mail will understand

I had to pay a visit to this forum for a good laugh. I am very happy with my XM subscription and am thrilled I cancelled Sirius since they are removing my favorite dance station. Sirius is the dark side remove yourselfs from the darkside now before you are all tossed to the curb. I am sure XM is already in the process of picking up Sirius's displaced DJ's. If I was Sirius I would start listening to the subscribers or XM will outnumber you 4 to one before you know it. I feel bad for the DJ's that have been displaced and hope to see you at XM. Here is who I would definately keep if I was Sirius

The Beat 36 - Art Rooney, Angelo Fecci, Mike Bordes, Joey Rivaldo and Denny Tsettos

Area 33 - Robbie Rivera, George Acosta, Gabriel & Dresden, Swedish Egil's Groove Radio International and Darude

Strobe - Harry Towers, Charles Feelgood, Mickey Garcia

We just a former devoted listeners opinion good luck with your 2 real dance channels guys.

KNOCKED OUT!!!!!

Six months after I got Sirius, they deleted most of their best music channels and replaced them with the worst (Sept 29, '05). Hense I got XM on Oct 21st and doubt I'll be renewing my Sirius. I can't support a service that mimics commercial-FM.

Default Will XM make changes to the dance now?

I know XM doesn't do lots of channel add/deletions/ renamings like Sirius does, but will XM be ready to pounce on this one? Not by adding a mix channel, but my shuffling up their Friday and Saturday mixshow lineups?

Dear Justin,

Thanks for getting in touch with us regarding Remix // Ch. 62. We always appreciate comments from our subscribers. In our effort to deliver un-compromised coast-to-coast music and entertainment for your car and home, we enhance our music and entertainment line-up from time to time. This round of changes are a direct result of feedback from listeners like you. And it's just the latest way we're making sure that SIRIUS remains the premier satellite radio service.

You will still be able to hear all of the dance grooves from Remix// Ch.
62 on Area 63 //
Ch. 63, Boombox // Ch. 61 and The Beat // Ch. 66. For "mixed" dance music, check out the DJ specialty shows on Shade 45 // 45.

For them to be saying that remixed shows will now be on Shade 45 is as stupid as when they said you could turn into Chill to hear trance and new age music.

Just say "the mixing is gone, we hope you like our new selections". I doubt there will be any House or Trance sets on Shade 45 anytime soon. Remember Eminem even said "Nobody listens to techno".

Another thing, even in the CSR email they say listen to Boombox 61, Are 63, etc....not even referencing the new channel numbers for those stations.

Hey, I got the same stock e-mail response! I feel so loved ... LOL!

Well ... I do hope they listen and beef up the other channels' programming. They desperately need more shows and more songs on the other stations.

Are these CSR's that dumb Shade 45 will NEVER play dance mixshows. I don't understand Sirius one bit well we will see September 30th if they keep our favorite mixers and mixshows if not we all should cancel and flood there mailboxes.

  • You mean "Uncle Mel"? hehe

This is what I think happened.... The Higher ups need the bandwith for what they think is more popular and pick on the dance cateogories. Leaving them a choice to get rid of one of them. They don't have a clue whats "popular" either Boombox vs. Remix. It probably sounds all the same to them, so get rid of one of them... Well Liquid Todd thinks his channel "Boombox" is the shit and he probably he has more pull saving Boombox over Remix... They also could've got rid of Chill, now that they have a New Age channel called Spa. But the programmer running that wants his so called "Dance" channel around over Remix.

There you go.. I think I'm right about this.

Those CSR's are morons! Did they ever think before they wrote down their automatic canned response that Shade 45 will NEVER play mixed dance music? Yes, they have DJ Specialty shows which would appeal to those who lost WAX but they aint gonna play Dance mixes.
