Default New Channel Flyer "Give you MORE of what you want"

I received the new channel lineup flyer in the mail last weekend.

In it, the phrase "Give you MORE of what you want" appeared repeatedly. I had a big laugh out of the propaganda and false advertisement.

It's LESS of what dance fans want by killing off Remix.

I just finished cancelling the 2nd of my 4 prepaid year subscription by asking the rewnewal charge by reversed on my credit card.

The rep asked why.. I said deceptive advertising and lack of commitment to dance music fans. He promptedly said that the charge would be reversed and that's the end of that.

He didn't even bother with saying "DJ mixing will be heard on such and such channels"

Dance is SIRIUSLY dead!

Also, class action suit for false advertising?

Yea, Sirius dance is dead... give me a break. I liked remix, sometime, but its loss is hardly the demise of Dance. Most of the time it was the same tired old NY house stuff just spun by different people. The GOOD DJ's will be spread among the remaining streams how they should be.

The pseduodrama around here is really starting to get old.

Default Remix

Now I will say that I didn't like all of the music that remix played, but at least it was something different. The best, repeat, time and time again. Area 63 is not bad, but it also gets old. I emailed customer support and also called in. There solution was to listen to Shade 45 and boombox. Now I don't know about you all, but each time that I have turned those stations on, there isn't dance music playing. I truly do hope that they spread out the mixes, etc over the other stations. I read in another posting that the beat was going to start doing 30 minute mix sessions... Any truth to the rumor? I am waiting to see what they do after the revamp before I jump the boat, but it does not seem that the dance category is really being served with just two stations. The strobe, chill, and boombox certainly do not sound like dance stations to me.

I listen to dance some, but it certainly isn't going to be dead with the loss of one channel.

Also, false advertising, Sirius is adding many channels, so you do get more, but just because you don't like the more, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You are grasping big time with this one. I don't think Sirius will have to worry about any class action suits.

You did do one thing right though, you aren't happy so you cancelled. That is the thing to do, but making bogus claims against what clearly will be more programming and claiming that to be false advertising is inaccurate to say the least.

Then don't say "Give YOU more of what you want"... instead say "We're increasing the number of total channels offered"

They certainly gave me more of what I wanted, but because they didn't you that means it was false advertising. I am sure I am not alone. I can't tell you how many people are looking forward to Spa73 that channel alone makes your allegation false. GET REAL!

Not everyone feels Boombox is crap and YES there are many people excited about the Christian Rock channel. What next, I'd love to get a beautiful music station.

yeah but when u tune in to the christian rock channel, you'll hear christian rock. when i tune in to boombox i have no idea whats in store for me. rarely is it dance. i'll catch an occasional dnb then old rap which i thought backspin was for. boombox was better before it changed names and content. now remix is gone. i'm left with area63 or 33. if 33's content doesnt improve from what it is now, edm on sirius will be done. the beat is ok. has some decent dance mixes on there. not trance or house but doable. the strobe is disco and doesnt count as edm. when i heard the channels were expanding i got excited. now i'm not. i have a ton of rock channels to pick from. rap channels i'm covered with. the era channels are fine. i didnt know the lineup was taking place today. had it on octane all day so i'll see what area63 or 33 has for me tomorrow. i'll give it a try.

You and just a handful of people. I'm willing to bet more people listen to Remix than Boombox. Its only around because THEY personally like it. In their minds, they think its unique and able to satisfy rap and dance fans on one channel. NOT

I don't think you can actually provide me proof of that. Just become some diehard dance fans seem to think Boombox is so terrible doesn't make it so. This channel is liked more than you think and NOT just by dance fans.

Why do the moderators have to defend every move Sirius makes? This guy has a legitimate complaing (okay the false advertising is overboard.) But the point is that they keep taking away real dance channels and they are replacing them with chillout and rap channels. I know more people like rap than Dance in general, but many of us have satellite so we can hear this type of music that isn't heard anywhere else. Next channel lineup better add a dance stream.

Not defending Sirius and I think many of us moderators including Jeff have in fact taken Sirius to task on issues, so don't even go there. The whole point I was making and you apparently missed is that he is understandably upset but making outrageous false advertising claims is going overboard (your words) and the fact is that isn't the case at all.

Just because we get upset about channels being removed doesn't mean we should go overboard(again your words) by making allegations that clearly can't be proved.

More people in the US like rap / hip hop than dance, because that's all they are exposed to via MTV and local radio. This is exactly why I like Sat radio, because it is different and provided equal weight to dance as it did to other musical forms.

It is now apparent that Sirius wants to go the way of mainstream, which is sad. Rap / Hip hop is now way over represented, where dance is now being squeezed to obscurity.

Dance may not be dead, but you have to admit that techno is barely holding on by a thread.

Now I am forced to look forward to IP streaming to really get what I want.

The Sirius = Clear Channel equation is fast becoming reality.

Sad to see where this is heading.

You are absolutely right, atl_runner. Sirius is slowly turning into an "enhanced FM" type pay service. Niche genres in the USA like dance will be lucky if they are represented even by one channel after a year or two.
