Default Great Now I hear Red Alert will be on Boombox MORE RAP CRAP!

What the hell is wrong with Sirius they are adding another mombling RAP DJ to a station in the Dance Category. Everyone please write and let Sirius know that RAP should not be in the Dance category I have had it with this crap if I didn't have a year sub i'd be out the door with Remix being removed and them dissing my favorite djays.

I think boombox would be fine if the RAP was removed.

Boombox = Break Beats

You're going in thinking Red Alert is going to play G Unit or something and that's NOT the case.
He's going to be like Grandmaster Flash excect he'll be on every weekday.

I hadn't heard Red Alert was being added to "Boombox". Yes, I agree, this is another dumb move by Liquid Todd and the "Boombox" programmers. This station, if it is going to be kept, should be pure breakbeats and d 'n b, with NO rap. Nothing against Red Alert or Grandmaster Flash, but they belong on "Backspin"; not a dance category channel like "Boombox"! This would seem a no brainer to just about anyone. As I said, if they are determined to keep "Boombox" and keep it in the dance category, it should focus on breaks and the related drum and bass, period. Personally, I would love it if they dumped it all together and created an all house channel and then make "Area 33" all trance. Trance and House are the two most popular dance genres anyway. But if they want a breakbeat channel, for God's sake, at least make it a true breaks channel. Liquid Todd may be a big name dj, but if he insists on putting rap on there, I'd rather Sirius let someone like Howard Marcus, who programs "the Beat" and "Area" program it instead. He'd do a much better job.

It's all relative.

Red Alert said he was moving to Boombox as he was ranting yesterday as Wax was ending. In a bit of positive news, he did say he was going to shake things up over there.

Great. Now with more rap added, I don't even have to check this channel out anymore, as I did before. I can understand the pride that Liquid Todd is taking in this channel, and I'm sure there are lots of dedicated fans. The only thing I don't understand is why he just doesn't take it to the hip-hop Sirius section where most of his potential listeners lurk anyway and the channel will get way more appreciation. Is the window view from the Dance office better than the Hip-Hop or what?

What's with all the hate with rap? You don't know what's Red Alert is going to do. Not much since Sirius uses playlist. Red Alert will just be a on-air talent.
When I think Boombox, I think about old 80's breaks with guys in jogging suits breakdancing which is a part of hip hop.

HIP HOP DOES NOT BELONG IN THE "DANCE" CATEGORY THE END!!!! THEY KILL THE BEST DANCE STATION THEY HAVE AND LEAVE US WITH BOOMCRAP WHICH IS MOSTLY HIP HOP AND CHILL WHICH ISN'T DANCE EITHER. THE BEAT HAS WAY TO MUCH REPETITION AND I AM YET TO HEAR ANY MIXERS FROM REMIX ON IT. AND AREA 63 IS A LITTLE TO DARK FOR MY TASTE SO BASICALLY I AM PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT DOESN'T CATER TO MY NEEDS ANYMORE IF I DON'T HEAR MIXERS ON THE BEAT SOON MY SUBSCRIPTION IS CANCELLED THE END. NO RAP OR HIP HOP ON DANCE STATIONS PLEASE........

Much like how Heart and Soul is now in the Hip Hop catagory. I don't hate R & B cause of that.

I agree that rap does not belong on a dance station, i love rap, my presets are now 1- the beat- 2-bbc 1 3-area 33 4-backspin and 5-sahde45.. i'm not listening to Boombox, because it irritates me to the max, if i feel like listening to dance music, i don't want BDP, or Big Daddy Kayne etc...i will tune to backspin andif i'm in the mood for hip hop i listen to shade or hip hop nation! For mainstream mtv type hip hop, i tune to Hot Jamz, now, why don't they start playing some TKA, Deep Dish, you know, dance stuff on theses stations...The reason is simple, it just don't mix well and listeners will be pissed for sure!! Also why does a good DJ like Liquid Todd, who i believe is well informed about the dance music crowd, keep's throwing stuff like that. I have been a fan of red alert even when he was spinning on 98.7 kiss fm...But god dammit, If Sirius want's to keep red alert on the payroll, send him to Backspin....

Ever since LT has been with sirius, it's mostly negative comments every time his name comes up, it's also sad to see that he couldn't care less about what we say, he even said that everything here is mostly about negative comments and complaining...

The sad thing about dance is that there isn't enough listeners out there, i know for sure that bullshit like Boombox would not be lasting too long. I'm sure there is a following for Boombox, but seriously, is it with the majority of dance music listeners? i highly doubt so, i would like to know what made them think (execs) that Boombox is more popular than a 24hour mix station with real dance music.....

Just my 2 cents!

I like Boombox and am a big Dance fan, but I'm also a fan of 80's and old skool rap so maybe I'm not the "majority".

Boombox is just plain "funky" which makes it very different and thats cool. Now at times it's great (really it is) but at other times its pretty lame. Breaks and Beats is a pretty niche stuff so it needs something added to it to fill it out. The channel is really somewhere between hip-hop and dance so no matter where you put it it's out of place. Same with Chill - its down tempo, which is such a sub-genre it hardly registers with your average listener (no offense to Chill fans I like it too).

If I was in charge Shade 45 would go away, then Boombox and Wax could be combined into a single channel where funky beats rap mixes would be together where they belong.

I'm also a fan of old school rap and always will be, but, don't we have Backspin for that?
