Default What Do You Think about the Dance Offerings on Sirius Now

Personally, I'm about to cancel sirius for the reason that my #1 station, Remix, is gone. I'll definitely cancel if Sirius doesn't add more mixshows to Area 33. I'm thankful to be living on the west coast and am able to hear the ones they've been airing at a reasonable hour. On the east coast they have to wait until 10 pm, which I think is too late. They definitely need to air some mixshows throughout the daytime with Remix gone.

In my opinion XM now has the better dance offerings. Three channels of true dance that are programmed reasonably well.

Sirius: Two true dance channels (that's IF The Beat is considered true dance music) that have shallow playlists and are very repetitive.

Sirius really needs a third true dance channel possibly at the expense of Boombox or Chill. People on these boards are saying that Chill is very close in sound to CoffeeHouse and Spa 73. Why not just move the Chill programming to one or both of these channels and have specialty shows. Replace Chill with an all house channel and change Area to The Vortex. While they're at it, remove all the hip-hop from Boombox, then maybe that channel will be tolerable to listen to.

Both 33 and 36 will have mixshows and they should be 100% this week coming. Make sure you stand by because they will show case some great DJ's.....

Will Mike Bordes, Art Rooney,Joey Rivaldo still be around?? I think Bordes would be a great fit on the Beat and Strobe I am not a big freestyle fan but always enjoyed the way he mixed up freestyle in the past. Rivaldo and Rooney are great for the beat sirius listen up.

Default not sure if it matters to anyone (hope it does) ;)

I have found out though I will not have "set times," you will still be able to hear my mixes weekly on Channel 36, The Beat..

Looking forward to the changes, and I hope you all give me some feedback on what you think of my shows!

Thanks in advance!

What type of crap is not having set times?? It was the same crap on Remix until late last year I liked knowing when I could hear Angelo Fecci, Mike Bordes and Joey Rivaldo. I am getting really tired of Sirius screwing the dance listeners over left and right. WE WANT SET TIMES TO HEAR THE MIXERS AND YOU BETTER KEEP FECCI BORDES AND RIVALDO.... I also think Bordes should be on the Beat and Strobe his freestyle was awesome back in the day. I swear XM is about 1 mistake away from gaining another Sirius sub.

Well, Area 33 is better than before, since it actually has some programming now. Altho, they appear to have ditched Dusk til Dawn, as they've got Essential Selections with Pete Tong on right now (Saturday night). Not complaining there - a majority Trance station doesn't need something like Dusk til Dawn.

With 36 getting some mixshows that station will improve too. I like Chill, and Spa73 has some good chillout electronic grooves too, so I'll take those two as long as they're around.

Personally, I'd recommend diversifying Boombox - add in some House, Drum & Bass, etc. Make it more complementary to 33. Then expand playlists a bit to knock down repetition across the board. That would be a pretty sweet electronic/dance lineup.

I heard a Bad Boy Joe mix on the Beat tonight around 11:30 but why only 30 minutes of mixes on a Saturday night? Another problem is the mix was all old songs. As everyone knows I have been a huge supporter of Mickey Oliver, Mike Bordes, Joey Rivaldo and Angelo Fecci and I really think they should put them all on at set times on whatever stations they will be on. Yes Bordes's classic and freestyle mixes were incredible they need to put him on the Strobe and the Beat. I also read they are putting Rivaldo and him on Shade 45 WTF?? That's almost as bad as having the Rap crap on boombox in the dance category. Sirius needs to really think about what they do or they will lose a lot of subscribers Stern and Martha Stewart mean nothing to me.

30 minutes is nothing. They should be mixing all night long especially Saturdays.

This Bad Boy Joe Mix has been on Remix before. Its an old mix from his CD. I really hope they keep the mixes "Fresh".

Major disappointment it's killing me to pay for 5 subscriptions for half of what we used to have. I miss the great micers from Remix more and more each day. The Area 33 mixes suck and is not my taste. :\

I am probably the happiest I have been with Sirius Dance since this lineup:

House Party, Rave, Planet Dance, Vortex and Beat.

Why?

Because of what they have done with the Strobe. And I think/hope they will make it even more inclusive of classic dance.

The Beat is adding a lot of songs and Area is about 90% trance.

Boombox I never listen too and Chill I do sometimes, but I am more please with Area, the Beat and the strobe then I know I would be with the XM dance lineup.

As much Sirius-bashing that I've done about killing off Remix, I've found myself listening to Strobe more than ever before. It does offer some refreshing change to the current state of dance music and the repetition on The Beat.

Really annoyed with sirius, Area 33 plays the same stuff over and over. Sirius needs djs spinning mixes and not awkward transitions. I got away from commercial stations to get away with repetition, and yet it still happens ALOT on sirius, no matter what channel it is.

I'm happy with the lineup changes. Its not like your loosing the Remix DJ's. They are over on Area 33 and soon the Beat.... Only difference is you won't hear many repeats because they can rotate the DJ's mixes better than trying to fill up a 24/7 channel. Just means you got to listen at the mixshow times. Lets face it.. Remix DID repeat mixes alot. You won't get this as much now.

The Strobe is better but I do hope they continue to add more songs and not repeat the same ones all the time.

Go to the XM boards and read the complaints about the repetition on BPM. Oh and its a boring, lifeless jukebox too.
