Default Will the Express/Old Skool Stream be brought back?

Any hope for Old Skool/Funk fans in bringing back our favorite stream sometime in the not too far future? WHERE IS THE EXPRESS?? Come on Sirius, fix this mistake please!!

Ive been berating this fact since this past February. Not sure when large scale changes to the stream lineup will take place again....lets hope programming sees the need for this format again.

I agree! I wish the programmers, powers that be at Sirius would reconsider their decision to ax what I considered to be their best R&B stream. They've succeeded in alienating a large segment of the 30-52 y/o urban demographic, assuming our tastes lean more toward 24/7 slow jams and/or a 70/30 neo soul/old school mix stream. I'm still waiting to see the research/subscriber feedback that led the suits to believe killing Stream 44 was the right thing to do.

Not to take anything away from Sirius as a whole; by and large it is a great service, especially the sound quality on the music channels. I use the H2A in my family room for entertaining houseguests and they love it. But I miss the Express; I was raised on the Funk and will be a diehard Funkateer the rest of my days. Heart & Soul and Slow Jams, good streams for what they offer, are far from being what I would call suitable replacements for the Express.

I really hope Sirius comes to their senses and reinstates this stream. Comparing it to XM's 64...well, The Express's programming and air talent blew it away, no contest. Guess it's time to fire up another e-mail campaign.

Dumb programming decisions like this is why Santa is giving me an I-Pod this Christmas.

As usual, T-Bite is dead on in his assessment of the urban situation on Sirius and XM. The Express was THE best programmed urban offering on either Sirius or XM, music and talentwise.... I affirm his views, lets bring on "da funk"!!!!

Yeah! At least they could change backspin to all old skool funk mixed in with some current backspin rap. That would be the bomb stream! Come on Sirius a little Time, Guy, Run DMC,TLC on one huge Backspin stream.

This sounds awesome from P funk master

Where’d You Get Your Funk From?
10/31 (9 pm ET):
The Mothership lands at Heart & Soul // 51 on Halloween, with host George Clinton spotlighting the origins and shades of funk from various regions of the US and abroad. It’s a funky musical treat, featuring Parliament, The Brides of Funkenstein, Bootsy Collins, Zapp, The Bar-Kays, Rick James and more… boo!

I agree, that seems like the best solution. They wouldn't even have to change the name of the stream. They would just have to maybe move it from the Hip-Hop category to R&B. Really, since Sirius decided to separate those two categories it would be tough to figure out whihc one to put it in.

maybe they should just combine the hip/hop and R&B categories into one like XM does.

That sounds like a great idea. I rarely listen to Backspin, but if it was a hybrid Old Skool Hip-Hop Funk stream, I'd check it out.

They should at least add a regular Express Funk mix show, even if they can't justify adding back a full time stream.

It's good to know that other people feel the same way I do. I think having some old school funk would make sirius just about perfect. Being a new sub I never got a chance to listen to the previous old school funk channel. I have emailed back spin suggesting that they mix up the old school rap with some good ole funk. I also wrote a suggestion on the sirius survey requesting an old school funk channel or adding funk to an existing channel. Haven't gotten any response yet. I would also like to hear some more 80' rap hits on back spin. They seem to be missing alot of old school rap hits. I never hear any west coast rappers such as: ICE T, EZE E, NWA etc. And backspin seems to repetative always playing the same songs. I keep requesting the Ghetto boys "my minds playing tricks on me" but they never play it. Anyways I think everyone that feels the same way should continue to request that changes be made and maybe they'll get the hint.
