Default Adult R&B - Sirius vs. XM

I've been listening to the XM R&B channels all evening while working on the computer this evening. (I have Sirius in the car.) This is the one area where Sirius completely lacks!! I know it's been brought up before. I am hoping that by bringing it up again, maybe something can change.

I am not a troll. I had XM first for almost a year...then added Sirius. The rock channels are infinitely better than XM's. I love Chill. I love Sirius Blues. Sirius is clear and away the better service IMO.

But 5 hip-hop channels??!!?? I realize that Backspin is classic. So 4 hip-hop channels playing many of the same songs? Heart & Soul and SlowJamz seem to share much of the same playlist with each other too, and each are pretty boring to listen to.

And with all of those channels...there is nothing like XM Channels "Suite 62", "The Flow" or "The Groove". How cool would it be to have just one eclectic neo-soul type channel? How about funk (which I know has many supporters on this board).

Sirius..you are doing a GREAT job, except in this one area. Adult R&B. Hopefully Sirius programmers log on backstage and see the posts.

I agree with everything you say and Sirius R&B needs to be tweaked. I say get rid of slow jamz.

Amen brother!

If that stream was cancelled today few, if any would miss it. Most, if not all of its playlist can be heard on 51 Heart & Soul.

HELLO, SIRIUS, PLEASE BRING BACK THE EXPRESS!!!!!

I like Sirius in many ways (NFL and Sirius Talk my favorites) but why they continue to either ignore or drop the ball on the Adult R&B issue, well I just don't get it. I've complained until I'm blue in the face and haven't gotten anywhere, like many who support the genre and have e-mailed and penned letters to Rockefeller Center for naught. Until they come to their senses I'll continue to supplement my funk listening with XM 64 (a poor imitation of "The Express" mind you) and my iPod (5,000 old school funk jams and counting, latest adds The Reddings "So In Love With You" and The System "Pleasure Seekers" ) but even an iPod can't supplant a great sounding announcer who plays great classic funk music. Even though my love for the NFL is strong, Sirius is seriously testing my patience with their paltry urban offerings.

Hey! I listen to Slow Jamz quite a bit when it's no shows are going on the hip hop stations. XM does have a neo-soul station that I wish Sirius had. I'm not sure what "adult r&b" is unless you're talking about another station like Soul Revue.

I do like Heart & Soul alot, it is a good urban ac (adult r&b) channel, and plays new and old soul. I would not want that to go away, but I would trade Slow Jamz for a funk channel or all old skool, since most of Slow Jamz songs are already covered by Heart & Soul.

I've been listening to Soul Revue a lot lately. It plays a nice mix of 70's R&B. They even mix in some funk songs. The name of the channel confused me a bit - I thought they concentrated on Soul music of the 60's. But, it's really a good R&B station.

When Sirius first started some 3 years ago, Soul Revue was the classic soul channel, featuring 1955-1975 r&b hits. It has been fine tuned in the past year, to make it feature late 60s to late 80s hits. Also thrown in are some earlier soul classics ( ie.. Sam Cook, Jackie Wilson). With the recent call for more funk flavored hits, Soul Revue has tried to add some to the playlists. Its a good channel also, and i would not want to lose it , as it features lots of Motown 60s and 70s hits. again, there could be a channel changed to include what many listeners have been asking for, and that is Slow Jamz 52.

Soul Revue is a car crash of styles, the mix of artists and sounds they play just doesn't work for me. I don't want to hear Otis Redding and Al Jarreau on the same station, it's horrible. XM definitely has the old school Soul/R&B arena covered much better.

This is so true I will not listen to Sirius at work because the new music is uncensored (hot-jamz) not not something you would want to listen to in a professional environment

But there R many other channels on Sirius that dont play x-rated music that would be appropriate 4 the work place.

Slow Jamz and Backspin are my Favorite music streams. I actually don't listen to Heart and Soul as much. ESPN News gets a great deal of run as well.
