Yeah, I know that is a cross section of stations, but it's usually for the same three or four songs. As you know, EW&F made some incredible album tracks and instrumentals that showed them to be more than a singles band. The same with WAR, the Isley Brothers and Curtis Mayfield. There are Parliment/Funkadelic songs that are unbelievable. That's why there should be a "deep" soul channel, akin to "The Vault". Minnie Riperton did more than "Loving You" and Donnie Hathaway was for than Roberta Flack's duet partner. A whole lot of music needs to be discovered.
BINGO!!! Thats is exactly what Sirius did have 2.5 yrs ago, in The Express. It was a deeper soul channel, old skool classics- not just playing only the bigger, most familiar ones. That is what I have been on the bandwagon about for the last 2.5 years (to no avail). Please write, email, call or whatever it takes, to the Sirius honchos that this IS Missing!!
Joe, I would like to see this deep soul channel in addition to a nasty, low down, gut bucket funk channel! I know that's asking for waaaay too much, but it could be done.
Thx 4 adding your voice 4 the need 4 a Funk channel.Whenever I mention it I get drama.Out of about 19 rock channels Sirius cant combine 2 rockchannels in order to give it`s subscribers 1 Funk channel which will still leave it`s prefered demographic 17+rock channels?
What in the world kind of drama do you get? 1 channel devoted to one of the most influential musical styles. They have entire channels devoted to the most fringe musical styles (Garage, JAM, Elvis?) I smell politics and bureaucracy. And like I said before, I escaped terrestrial radio because of that
Belive me there R MANY SBS members who R tired of me talking about bringing back a Funk channel.

I agree with the lack of R&B channels. I would like to see a 70-80's r&b station because I don't want to hear motown mixed in with the 70& 80's stuff. I would really like to hear a funk & R&B channel with pure 70-80's jamz.

Where the hell is the old school funk?

Who should we all email to protest the current funk / R&B situation?

I do too but I still turn to any of the R&B songs I have saved even if I have the track on my mp3 player.

I`ve posted about this subject in the past and have been accused of "playing the race card".I feel that any1 that thinks otherwise is blind.Since I`ve been with Sirius I have noticed that when there is a channel change the "Black Channels" take the hit.
The dance channels take a hit every time as well. It's not just a black thing.

My point is the "Rock" channels never take a hit.

Default I agree

I actually get angry in my car whenever I hear the Soul station. It plays very little soul. Where's Otis?

Same here...I find myself listening to the talk channels more than the so called Soul channels.
