Default Slow Jams

Call and email SIRIUS about your dissatisfaction with the removing of SLOW JAMS and hopefully they'll bring it back. There's strength in numbers.

Default Just switch to XM. Sirius has lost my business

I realized that I needed Sat Radio for music to and from appointments for my job. The company that gives me the most for my money is XM. I like Sirius for NFL, but that really doesn't justify renewing my yr sub in a few months. The R&B issue was the icing on the cake. Plus I don't want to hear the top 20 songs like FM radio. I enjoy hearing new artists. For me it will be all XM in a few months.

Did that last week. I got a 'canned' response stating, 'we appreciate...blah, blah, blah'

"I like Sirius for NFL, but that really doesn't justify renewing my yr sub in a few months. The R&B issue was the icing on the cake."

Couldn't have said it better myself. If it weren't for NFL, I wouldn't have renewed recently. My sub isn't up until Sept of next year so I'm kinda stuck, but if it Sirius doesn't change, I'm gone.

I don't understand why many folks think Hip-Hop and R&B are the same thing. Actually I DO understand, but it ticks me off. I guess I'm one of the few people who appreciated when they started censoring some of the songs on Hot Jamz, etc.

Thanks for the post Buster, please let Sirius know that you care about R&B programming and that they are not meeting your needs. Call, email or even snail mail them, that is the only thing that will work. When subscribers threaten to quit, they want to know the reason. please tell them. Thanks for your comments about r&b and hip hop- I am glad someone knows the difference.

Default Hip-Hop and R&B

I emailed Sirius a couple of times myself. My plan is to send them an email once a week, until something gets done. I have gotten the "canned" repsonse myself, but I do feel that someone looks at the message before they send the response.

I was "very" dissapointed when they removed Wax AND Slow Jams. It was my thought they would "ADD" more channels, instead of taking TWO channels away. Also, instead of taking those channels away, why didn't they just modify the format (like with Soul Town), and offer something else? R&B is REALLY lacking right now, you literally don't hear Neo-Soul OR FUNK AT ALL, and there is no place to hear new hip-hop artists. I love Hip-Hop Nation, Backspin, and Shade, but two stations to play all the hip-hop there is???? (I am excluding Hot Jamz, since they sound so close to the radio)

I don't know if anyone from Sirius every checks these forums, but WE NEED MORE HIP-HOP & R&B CHANNELS!!!!!!!!!!

(From the posts I have read here, XM is souding better and better every day)

Sounds like you do not fall in2 the demographic that Sirius is concerned about.I have been emailing and calling Sirius for months and I thought there might be a change when the new programming was instituted...seems I was wrong.I feel the bottom line is Sirius is NOT concerned with it`s R&B audience I also have a serious problem with NO FUNK programming on Sirius except for the occasional special Funk programming which may happen twice a year.I cant afford 2 subs so if Howard is not worth it I will also switch to XM.

Default More Hip-Hop AND R&B

v1ru5, I am hoping that is not the case, but as a causal user, who happens to glance at the channel line-up, it would seem that there is rock, and then everything else. It is my thought that if we keep writing, something will change, or they will begin to lose customers. I went back and forth for months about which one to purchase, and at the time Sirius had more hip-hop and R&B to offer. But right when I joined (Feb 05), they dropped "The City" for Shade 45.

I just sent in an email to sirius about the lineup, and I will continue to do so. If I do not see any changes in the near future, I will drop them for XM.

And to be honest, I really don't like Howard Stern. To me, his TV show is tired, and his "shock-jock" routine is tired, and played-out.

Default Slow Jams

First I forgot to you so SBS.
There are many SBS members including myself who have complained to Sirius since they deleted the Express 44 which used to be the channel for Funk here but to no avail.I have come to the conclusion that Sirius` primary concern is for it` Rock fans...so I seriously doubt if we will see any changes for the better in the R&B catagory. As you saw during the last channel change stations that WE liked were deleted in for channels THEY wanted. As I have posted in the past a lot people in my church that I turn on to Satellite radio are choosing XM because of the better R&B and Funk programming.

I'll have to agree with you. Just today, Sirius announced the addition of a 24/7 Bruce Springsteen/E street band music stream, starting November 1st, to go along with the all Elvis and all Rolling Stones streams. That really tells me where their priorities lie these days.

Default More Hip-Hop AND R&B

Well, Sirius has two choices, add more hip-hop and r&b channels, OR they will lose customers. Not only current customers, but future ones as well. Word will spread that Sirius has little to offer in the Hip-hop and R&B sections. I think the reason they ADD all the rock, and elvis, and what have you, is because people write in, and call and do what it takes. I think we need to do the same. I will keep writing in until something changes. If they don't respond, I will drop them for XM.

All Bruce? Ok, come on, I have nothing against Mr. Springsteen, but gimme a break!! We get a channel dedicated to Bruce before we get old skool/funk/adult r&b classics? What gives with this? Sorry, but this does send a message, one I do not like. Who is making these decisions? Surely we can hear Springsteen on several other channels already. But funk? A tiny dabble on a couple channels, I think the R&B fans have heard the message now for sure- loud and clear- it says " you dont count". Major bummer!~!

You know, when I read this in the paper this morning, I thought well that's it! If they give Bruce Springsteen an entire channel you know no other musical genre other than rock has a chance on Sirius. But I'm not gonna give it up, but it's really a shame.

By the way coincidently, has anybody noticed that Soultown 53 is starting to play some interesting things and yes, more funk?

Yes I have noticed they are playing more funk but look what they are playing, same old Rick James -Give it to me baby,Zapp-I can make you dance,Parliment-Flashlight and so on...Just enough to say "Yes we play a little Funk".If they were to play anything I requested we would be happy Funkateers but I have NEVER heard a request of mine played.I`m not gonna give up either but this shit almost feels like it`s personal ANYTIME Sirius adds something new it`s for thier rock fans.We pay for subs just like the Rock fans do but we don't get jack shit.Oh I forgot to mention on 10/31
Heart & Soul will be playing some Funk for us AT 9 FUCKIN` PM EST Just in time for me to go to bed so I can get up for work in the morning so maybe I`ll hear an hour`s worth B4 I fall asleep. Then the next Funkfest should be around Memorial Day 2006. ROCK ON SIRIUS.
