Default Clipse

Anyone copped the new Clipse disc yet? Wasn't a huge fan of theirs, though thought they had an interesting sound. More admired the Neptunes beatwork with them before their new release.

Having said that, Hell hath no fury sounds like one of the best albums of the year. Totally refreshing for someone who has listened to hip hop music since '89. Grimy, simple, subterranean beats with laser like darts for 12 songs. These cats remind me a little bit of Mobb Deep from the Infamous, Hell on Earth days. Though P at that time was better then Malice and Pusha T individually, Clipse sound real nice as lyricists together. These guys have put out a modern classic IMO, taking it back to simpler days while at the same time not sounding old and outdated either.

Any thoughts?

I didn't get the album because I find it hard to be a fan of The Clipse. I think they have crack lyrics, but after6-7 years of Neptunes beats, anything out of there sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. And that single, Wamp Wamp, made me want to blow chunks every time I heard it. These guys aren't easy on the ears.

Tomorrow is the 19th:

******NAS ALBUM will be copped (I'll post comments in about a week when I get back from vacation, unless I get a chance to get through it tomorrow night)
DJ Clue album also (the 2 part song with Game and Mario Winans was great)

Yea Ryan they do rap about the crack game. Though on this album it seems like an afterthought compared to the way they talk about it. Like with my comparison w/The Mobb, P and Hav rapped about cutting and shooting and "I'll take the life of anybody trying to change what's left" but they did it with heart and conviction and some truth as well. Clipse sound like they want out of that lifestyle and are ready to leave it behind.

You should check it out.

LOL, funny. I find it kind of hard to be a Clipse fan too. They are sort of cast to the side as a major rap group. Grindin was the shit but they haven't done anything as big since then. Maybe that is why they are playin the fuck out of their songs now cuz their mixtape album got almost no rotation & noone can really remember any other song off their first one but Grindin which had at least 5 remixes.

Wamp Wamp aint all that but I am feeling Mr Me Too a bit.

Default Great Record

It's a phenomenal album. My interest in hiphop isn't what it used to be (I still think Paul's Boutique is the best of alltime), but Clipse put together a gem.

I wasn't a fan of their stuff off the first record. Kinda liked their songs on the Clones cd, and up until about 3 weeks ago thought it was just one guy!!

Then I start seeing press photos with two cats in them, and I say to myself maybe I need to check into them more. The new cd has nothing like the radio hits of the first album. Wamp wamp is the closest, but even that's not a happy fun time radio/club type record. The last song, an r&B tempo track is kinda radio friendly. The rest of it is just straight hard hip hop beats and rhymes.
