With songs like "Fuck The Police" NWA really made a statement , I was on www.myspace.com/nwa and I heard they came out with a new greatest hits . Its things like this that keep hip hop alive. Well , just thought id share somethin. When dumb ass dudes like Nas say hip hop is dead , Just gotta say its not.

Though I agree that NWA played a big part in hip-hop, I can't figure out how you related that to Nas' hip-hop is dead comment. The songs on the NWA CD are a decade old... Nas said hip-hop, right now, is dead...

Hey, at least I know who Eazy-E is! I'm not one of these new kids who think the first rapper was 50 Cent!

True, true... now, if you'll excuse me, I have to drink heavily having realized that I was in highschool around the time my g/f was born. Didn't quite click how young 22 is these days.

I suppose this conversation can be continued on the Stern forum, specifically the thread discussing the 18 year old Playmate who was in last week... She was born in 1989. What happened that year, you ask? The debut of Yo! MTV Raps, MC Hammer, and the first Grammy for hip-hop (which was untelevised and lead to Will Smith boycotting the awards).

Seems like just yesterday, right?!! Babies born in that year are now fair game (to debate this point, see the Stern section!)

1985, "Run DMC" and "Too Short, Born to Mack". 1987 I bought "Eazy-E, Eazy duz it" and "Life is Too Short". 1988, "Straight outa Compton". Good god, I can't believe that was 20 years ago.

Damn, that's not even to mention "Ice T, Rhyme Pays" and Public Enemy in 1987-1988.
