Default Internet Radio Down Completely for Over a Week

I have been calling Sirius daily for over a week. Each time they acknowledge that the Internet radio is experiencing problems and there is no estimated fix date.

I'm surprised more people aren't upset about this.

I got the official player to work.
I uninstalled Microsoft Windows Media Player (I had version 10 installed on my desktop)
Then I rebooted my machine.
Finally, I installed Windows Media Player 11 the beta.

Then I retried the sirius website and it worked.

Let me know if this works.

Default Can't Get Past Authentication Screen

I'm not even getting to the point that it launches any player.

I enter my credentials (the same ones I used for my account) and I get the error about wrong password. I've even confirmed by p/w and username with customer service.

There is definitely something wrong and Sirius has admitted it to me on the phone.

klw you might need to upgrade your windows media player to the last verison to get it work right. I have two accounts and mine was fine, but I let my brother use my second log in and he was having a problem. Once he upgraded to the newest verison he hasn't had any issues.

I haven't been able to login for over a month, using my primary login. I called finally - last night - CSR 1 was very inexperienced, asked me twice what I needed, I explained my login/pw would not work. She reset it, tried it, wouldn't work. She put me on hold to try it on a 'computer that worked', what the heck - do they not have modern, working computers in a major place of business?

After five minutes of dead air I hung up and called back. Got CSR 2, she was very ill-knowledged, told her my problem, she said my login had been changed, I told her I did not change it, she changed it back, tried it, wouldn't work. We did this three times, after about ten minutes I gave up and decided to ask what the Standard and Premium buttons on the player were. She had no clue, then put me on hold to find out, came back and said it's a new subscription a sirius subscriber, pays in order to get additional internet radio channels. I'm a subscriber, yet I have to subscribe to get channels I already get on one of the three radios I have with Sirius.

After steaming a bit I had to call back - got CSR 3, amidst the phone fumbling and heavy breathing, I was able to get a supervisor who could not explain why it has been a month without online radio. I explained I read alot of forums of other customers who have the same problem. She said even they can't log in. I told her I don't really care about them, we're subscribers, we need an explanation and an ETA. She said all she can do is tell me to keep trying. Yeah, I'll keep trying for another couple months - then what? Total crap - that probably tops my worst CS experience ever. She said you cna write to 'them' meaning, them who might know about the online player - by going to 'contact us' and filling out a form. Yeah, like i haven't done that a million times already. So this is what I wrote them, for the 1,000,001 time.

Third email:

My primary online radio login is (i gave my login and password). I am unable to log in and listen online with it. Your CSRs were unable to login as well.

I can log in with my secondary login (enterd secondary login)

WHY CAN'T I LOG IN WITH MY PRIMARY? I NEED TO KNOW WHY AND WHO CAN FIX IT AND WHEN. Do not give me another generic answer. I spent 30 minutes between two reps who could not answer.

Last month one of our receivers was stolen, I called and had the acct TEMPORARILY cancelled, I had a new radio installed - Sirius changed my login from one to another without my knowledge.

On 10/3 I called to find out why primary isn't working - the lady helping me told me the login was changed. She changed it back to original and it still didnt work - she had no idea why. Right now it is (original login) and it will not let me in.

Another note - while being logged into the online radio under my secondary login - I noticed a Standard and Premium button. I asked the lady what that means, she had no clue. She had to look it up - finally after asking someone she told me that it's an extra $2.99.

I'm amazed by all of this - especially since Sirius gave absolutely no warning, no communication, nothing - to its subscribers.

This last call to customer service was it - they were unable to provide any explanation why the online radio would not work. When I asked a billing question, I was informed that the systems went down. How convenient.

Sirius needs to come together, I really enjoyed it the first year and a half. Lately it has been very suspect, customer service is at its worst, and the billing practices and sneaky new subscription plans are enough to make me quit.

At minimum - please research why my primary login is not accepted any longer. Thank you,

Paying Subscriber, Darin Chester

I can only speak of my experience.
My logon and password began working from the sirius.com online player.

Each time I went to NFL channel, it would say ready and nothing else.

On my computer at work, I upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 beta and that solved the problem.

On my computer at home, I did the same thing and it still had the ready problem.
So I uninstalled all Microsoft Windows Media Players (Wmp).
I rebooted my machine
Reinstalled WMP 11 and did not work. So I uninstalled again.
Then I used this page:
http://erpman1.tripod.com/current/wmp9del.htm
I did not do everything on the page.
But I delete the registry keys.....all the files recommended in the INF folder and anything that said WMP10.inf or WMP11.inf.....and deleted those explorer folders.

At that point, for some reason, WMP 9 was able to launch. And it finally worked.

So the morale of this story is that Sirius is streaming via WMP in some way.
The key is that WMP10 is horrible so stay away from it.
WMP9 or WMP 11 beta will work, but if you have WMP 10 and Sirius doesn't work for you, then removing it via add/remove and then use the above link I mentioned to remove other files and registry settings, then using WMP9 or WMP11 should work.
Hope this helps someone.

P.s. I have Windows XP Service pack 2

Default Player Issues - Resolved, thank you!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the people in this forum. My experience with Sirius, Sirius Customer Service and the Sirius player were almost identical to dchester's post. My login problem had miraculously resolved itself, but when the player came up and I click on a channel it would say "downloading 1k of 1k" and then nothing...

Thanks to Jojo and other's posts I uninstalled my Media Player (it seemed to be a version 8?) and installed Media Player 9. I am now listening to my online feed.

Can some of you PLEASE get a job at Sirius Customer Service? I don't know if I can ever handle another call to them.

Sirius Radio Rocks! Just as long as you don't need any service...

Thanks again, guys!

Default My Issue Is Different

All you guys are talking about problems after logging in when the player is launched. On both IE and Firefox I get a message that I've entered my password incorrectly. Is anyone else having *this* problem?

I only have one user/pw and I know I'm using it correctly. I can login to my account on sirius.com using the same. I try every day. I can always access my account and I can never launch the player.

So it looks like WMP8 and WMP10 are problems, and WMP9 and WMP 11 are good.

Default Thank You

Thanks to the people in this forum - I did the upgrading to Windows Media Player 9 as some of you suggested and it worked! I'm listening to Howard right now! Actually I went to where Windows Media Player's website said 'Download version 10', but it directed me to the 9 page anyway. So I think I can confirm that there is truth to the advice, 9 and 11 work, but 8 and 10 don't.

I even went through the trouble of calling Sirius back and waiting and telling one of their reps, Misha, what I've been through and asked why didn't their reps know about the Windows Media Player connection. She said they are currently trying to train their reps over the last couple days to get wise to it. She was not as ill informed as others have been.

However, after all this, my Starmate player cut out yesterday morning and hasn't worked since. I described it to Misha, I thought it was satellite/antenna related, but it's probably not. It comes on and the "Sirius" screen appears, but it never gets to the channels screen or the one that says "acquiring signal" or anything. It also seems to have like a hiccup where it flashes briefly as if it's trying to load something, but it stays on the same screen. To verify it's not satellite related, I pulled the antenna plug out, and noticed there was no message trying to reacquire or anything, it seemed to not care. So I'm currently on hold with their warranty department for a return, luckily it's less than a year old. The warranty dept phone# is 866-257-7726 for those who want it. So even without a reciept, but because of my activation date, Misha says they'll send out a replacement before I even have to return the one I have. Hopefully this comes true.

Thanks again for this forum.

Kris -

Same thing was happening with my login. Tell me it was wrong, but I could log in directly to my account on Sirius. It "miraculously" resolved itself days later. I may have cleared the cookies, I can't remember.

If you have more then one receiver with Sirius and don't already have an online account under the 2nd receiver, create one. That's how I got on until the 1st account corrected.

Not a logical or technically great answer, I know. But whatever works, eh? )

Thanks. I tried clearing the cookies and cache. No help...and I only have one receiver so I can't make another account.

I'm afraid that changing my username and password in an attempt to fix this might have made it worse. Maybe one part of the system sees the change and another doesn't. But I haven't changed this in over a week. If their systems are that out of whack it's pretty bad.

Not sure what it's going to take...
