What do you base this on? I just tried this and it didn't work. I am having the same problems as described above where my user/pass works for My Account and not for Online Player. I will wait for awhile and retry it and let you know how that goes.

Ive had similar customer support issues as other people raised here regarding this. I've been Sirius subscriber for over 3 years and haven't been subjected to this level of incompitence by customer support in any of that time.

I also tried a 3 day trial and I am able to login and listen with that, so I know its not my computer. I tried changing my password, and I still get invalid username or password, but I can login to My Account with the new password.

The only thing I haven't tried is a new username, and I really really really do not want to change my username. I don't see whats so hard about them re-activating the online account but apparently that is a herculean task for the CSRs to accomplish.

Next time I call them I'll go straight to customer retention and see if that gets me anywhere.

If the Username/pwd works for one thing, and not for another, you need to check that the account has the same Username/pwd for both. Call CS and they can verify that for you or just change it to something that is all numbers (like your phone number) and it will work.

I only have one radio on my account, and it was pretty clear on the My Account page that the same username was in place for the Online Player (Master).

Regardless, the fix was to actually change the username itself. I really did'nt want to do this, but CS did that and it worked. I went back in and tried changing it back to my original username and password, and once again, the Online Player didn't work but My Account did. I then changed it to a different username (different than what they set it to) and with that one both work again.

So, it was just something screwed up with my original account. Resending the activation signal did nothing regarding the Online Player.

Thanks for the ideas though, this was a weird problem and I still dont understand why the couldnt just re-activate my original username, but oh well, it works now.

Is the online player no longer working? This morning I am no longer able to log into the online player (both Sirius and the widget). I confirmed that I have the correct login and pw. Is anyone else having a problem with online listening?

I had this problem. One day my free internet radio stopped working. I would attempt to log in but it didn't work. I called Sirius they said all internet radio was having a problem and to call back. I gave it a week or two since I dont' listen online often. I tried again. Got another person, they change my login info and password, and it still didnt' work. They said wait 10 minutes and try again than hung up. (pass the buck). I tried in 10 minutes same results. I went thru many "service reps", some would say it was a known problem online even though my friends weren't having the problem, and to try later. Some would just put me on hold and hang up. A friend from work said they never had any problems with online listening. I finally got a rep who tried to log in with my account info and had the same problem, even though the rep could log in with his. He said he had to forward it to Tech Support and they would email in 24 hours. Of course no email. I tried to log in but it kept saying it didn't have my account on file! I couldnt even have an email sent to me with my password. A week later I called back and they had a rep help me. She told me my username was completely different than the one I was using. Apparently Tech Support chnaged it and never let me know. She reset my password and I never had a problem since. This whole thing took about 4 months and a bout 10 different reps, many of whom would put me on hold and than just hang up on me. I was very patient on the phone with them because I really didn't listen on line that much, but I was shocked at how bad the service was. My suggestion is to get in touch directly with Tech Support. Follow up and ask for names. Stay on them. Good luck!!!

i was able to listen to sirius over the internet some months ago, but the last few times i've tried i get stuck at "100.00% of 1K"

i am running windows media player 6.4 with winmedia 8 codecs running.

after skimming parts of this very long thread, i can't figure out if i absolutely HAVE to move to media player version 9 *shudder*.

can i just install some 9 codecs? and do i have to be running 7.1 to install 9 codecs (that's what seems to be the case but i'm hoping it's not true).

has anyone had success using media player classic instead of windows media player?

update:

installed winmedia codecs 9 for 6.4, still didn't work.
installed winmedia 7.1, still didn't work
installed winmedia codecs 9 for 7.1, still didn't work.
installed winmedia 9, now it works.

i wish i didn't have to move to winmedia 9. i'd rather use 6.4 with the 9 codecs but oh well.

Hello. I am a new subscriber. I joined knowing that I would be able to listen to the Sirius channels via the internet. I have installed both the Howard Stern Music Player and the Windows Media Player 11 Sirius Plugin software on TWO computers. The Howard Stern Music Player works fine - flawless

The Sirius Plugin has to be the worst piece of software I have ever used. I have installed this program on my work PC and my home PC. The software has completely corrupted windows media player. It takes forever to "load". It works about 50% of time I try to use it. It "crashes" Windows Media Player all the time while also causing it to "freeze" up.

I understand that this Plugin for Windows Media Player is new, but it is simply unacceptable. You folks need to work very, very hard to create an alternative, similar to the Howard Stern Media Player, that allows SUBSCRIBERS to access ALL the Sirisus channels WITHOUT relying on Windows Media Player.

Wow, of the few thousand people using it (WMP plugin for SIR) - your the only one who has said that it has 'corrupted windows media player.' You are corrupted - both your brain and computer have a virus. Being that I wrote the plugin in my spare time, for free - your rant is less than inspirational. Oh, if the plugin is slow or you have problems with it - its because your computer is slow and you have problems with it already.

Good luck, find something else for free that sucks this bad and tell me about it.

1) I am not attacking you personally, just the software. Way to bring it to a third grade level by attacking me personally, perhaps you could threaten to hit me next?
2) The software does not function on my computer. There are no viruses. It insists that an "update" be installed everytime it runs, of course I have installed the update every time it asks.
3) Windows Media Player 11 than grinds to a complete hault
4) It is great that you created this Plugin, it works great on my personal laptop

5) The underlying point of my post, is that Sirius SHOULD provide a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better alternative for online streaming than (a)their wesbite or (b) a 3rd party plugin - expecially when the streaming service you get with your regular subscription is something any non-paying joe-smo can get free for 3 days with a free email account

6) Sirius should develop their own streaming media player for their PAYING subscribers that functions much like the Howard Stern Media Player w/ a drop down list of all the channels. They should not rely on 3rd party software to fill the void

Hotmail is a free service that pretty stinks in comparison to other free email services. See, it wasn't to hard to find another example!

You were ranting and you got put in your place.

If it says you need an update, then your using an old version and you have to uninstall it (from the add / remove programs menu) and you need to download the update - or stop fussing about it and dont use the program. You say below it works great on your laptop, then something is wrong with your other computer thats causing it to run poorly there - thats a problem with your computer, not with the program.

Again, I've installed WMP 11 on 60+ computers at our Corporate office - no problems at all. I've installed it on my own 5 computers at home, no problems at all. I've talked to hundreds of people who use WMP 11 - and they all love it - works great for them. The problems start when people who hate MS products start breaking parts of their OS or neglecting to install patches, then they get stuck with poorly running systems and want to blame that on software developers. You are a classic case of somebody who proved nothing by ranting about something you dont even understand.

Again, you prove my point.

Your point was distracted by your petty rant.

They (SIRIUS) dont 'rely' on 3rd party software - I dont get paid and nobody else who has developed a free player does either. You are lucky that these free players that have additional features are available to you - you could be stuck with whats there. Start by being positive, then make your point - which you lost in that rant.

Yea, I've had a hotmail account for about 6 years - works everytime all the time. Your a Microsoft basher and have done nothing to prove your point about the lack of features on the player that SIRIUS does provide.

HAH

It took me all of 5 months and 4 screennames to get my online feed to work. I never did have it working, I found somebody else with a screename I had originally chosen that was taken that forgot to change their password (their screename was their password) I finally changed my screename to a bunch of random numbers and letters last week and now it works.

OK, got a question, maybe someone here can help.

I can't use any of the free online players b/c they conflict w/ another piece of software I use concurrently, so I usually end up running Sirius' online player.

When I try to use it in Firefox, I get a message that there is a plugin that needs to be installed, and click on Install, but then FF can't find the plugin. The player shows the channel and plays the tunes but doesn't show the tracklisting in FF the way it does in IE, if that gives anyone a clue.

So does anyone know what plugin I need for FF and how to install it? Or does the plugin just not work in FF?

The player has always worked fine for me in IE, it's just that (whine) I hate IE....

Thanks for any assistance!

You don't need a plugin for Firefox. The message is related to a bug in the player which makes it try to load the Windows Media plugin twice. Another bug in the player prevents Firefox from showing the now playing info.
