american standards from the 30s-50s. a lot of the songs from the jazz age and crooning era (aka...right up to the rock and roll 50's)
ok thanks- I'll give it a try!

It's probably the station I listen to the most, and I'm no "old fogey" either--I'm only 25.

Lately, it's gotten a bit more repetitive (or, perhaps I'm just listening to it more and therefore the repetition is more evident), but with that kind of music, I can't complain--I mean, it's great sing-a-long on a long commute music.

If I'm not listening to TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE or FRESH AIR on the PRI or NPR channels in the morning, I'm driving to work with Jeff Spurgeon for the most part.

I like Standard Time, and it's my number one preset. (Swing Street is number 2)

I would like to hear fewer repeats, and less Barry Manilow and Sting. I would prefer that they play the songs which were hits in the 40s, by the artists who had the hits.

Here's music you won't hear elsewhere on the "air". Timeless classics performed in both their original and contemporary modes.

I'd like to hear more of a "full-service" feel, perhaps with news briefs (from ap?) on the top of the hour, just to make it seem "live."

Otherwise, "Don't go changin'...."

I'm 28, and love Standard Time, I'm a big fan of Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin etc. It's in my presets. If you haven't heard it give it a try.

When I first subscribed, I didn't even notice standards on the channel lineup, but I must say that I listen to it an awful lot. Probably 75% of the time, my receiver is on Standard Time. Swing Street is a close second. I also like The Jazz Cafe, which is the real reason I subscribed.

My wife listens to Standard Time almost exclusively in her car. It's music that I heard around the house when I was a kid and remember fondly.

Incidentally, I hear Jeff Spurgeon most often because of my drive time to work, and I think he's a great host. Knowledgeable, witty and I think his voice tracks are done close to air time because of his comments on current events or what happened in sports the previous night, for example.

I like Penny Coyne also. I have exchanged e-mail with her in the past. She loves to get mail and seems to be a very classy lady. Her on-air style is so conversational that she seems like a friend talking to you.

Default My dad likes it!

What I do when I get home from work, is put my Jensen in it's car adapter and broadcast on 88.1 throughout the House.

My Dad, who is 76 years old, sits on the porch, and I put Standard Time on. He just LOVES it. He'll sit there for hours just listening to that station.

The funny part is, he doesn't realize it's satellite, and when I have my radio at work, all he hears is static, and doesn't know why.

So, I'll probably end up getting another radio at some point, so I can leave that one running for him during the day.

I can justify ANYTHING!

BUT, I enjoy Standard Time every once in a while. Good stuff that I listened to growing up around my dad.

Steve

I'm 27, but I think the music of standard time really crosses all generations. There are a lot of stations on Sirius that I really enjoy, but my tuner is ending up on standard time more and more.
I hope when Christmas comes around that they play a lot of Christmas songs from these legends. The best renditions of the Christmas classics definitely come from Standard Time artists.

After learning they are combiming swing street with this channel which i didn't even know about i have tried it. After 3 songs played it went onto A-2 for presets until 9/29/2005 when it gets combined with swing street and swing street gets dropped. Then i will move it to A-1 .

Standard time has been one of my presets since I got Sirius. It's not my most listened to station but I do listen frquently. Sinatra is still the Chairman of the Board, but I've really learned to like alot of the younger singers doing the standards, both male and female. And ,yes, Penny Coyne is a treasure. Sirius really has some great DJ's if you ask me...jazz, rock, standareds. There are very few I don't like.

I really like Penny Coyne. She's fun to listen to, and she really seems to love
the music that she plays. Is there a photo of her anywhere?

When I first Got Sirius , I thought ok I'm gonna listen to the 80's and Rawdog and streams like these . I do listen to these one's but a couple of months ago I rearranged my fav channels to put Standard Time and Broadway's Best into my first tier buttons. I love these two streams. Penny Coyne , Drew and Jason are all favorite host of mine!
