Ahhh... so, so nice. I got up in the wee hours this morning to check out the channel changes. Then I set my tuner to Spa and layed in the bed and it wasn't but a few minutes I was sound to sleep. This channel is one of my preset and I am totally happy to have it.

SO what kind of artists are being played on this channel? I don't know if I'd like it since I'm not big into New Age, but then I didn't think I'd like Chill or Area 63 (33?) either and now both are favorites.

I sort of dig it. I wish they had a channel more like Sunny on XM though.

No it's not totally instrumental. I heard some vocals on the way home from work today. Not a bad channel, but I think Music Choice's 'Soundscapes' is much better.

Default Quite happy they've added this.

Public radio was the main reason I chose Sirius over XM two years ago and there was always that tinge that they didn't have a New Age or an Ambient channel. If I play any music while I'm working, I lean towards something present in the background that's subtle and this is the perfect type of music for that.

Although a lot of what I've heard so far today isn't the type of New Age I typically look for. Dido was on this morning on my way to work (as a previous poster noted) and the last three songs have leaned more towards jazz/electronica/flamenco/subtle trance. And anything that leans towards Kenny G like this "Back to Earth" group I heard a few moments ago, I'm switchin' the channel. It makes me feel as if I'm flipping through a 5 week old copy of Time waiting to see the doctor.

New Age as I understand it tends to have less emphasis on percussion (if hardly any percussion) and less vocal articulation. For instance, I would almost push Enya out of this genre but Celtic-ish music and New Age have been in line with each other for a long time (i.e. Clannad). Ottmar Liebert tends to get thrown in this bucket too. Perhaps the umbrella is much wider than I'm allowing.

I'll definitely keep listening and hopefully more "space music" will be forthcoming (hate the name but that's what most agree on as defnitive term for that segment of genre. i.e. ambient/Space in the vein of Steve Roach, Jon Serrie or Robert Rich.)

That's exactly what I thought of today...lol. So far this is not what I invisioned this channel to be and I doubt it ever will be.

I'm really digging spa73. This is great because I use my receiver as both an alarm clock and a sleep timer. Now I've got Hard Attack to wake-up to and spa73 to fall asleep too. It's the perfect channel for listening to while your reading right before going to bed. Just put your receiver on 60 Minute "Sleep Mode" and drift right off to sleep.

Other than posting on message boards, I've never really admitted to liking New Age music...primarily because of John Tesh and Yanni. But, its always been a guilty pleasure of mine...especially Enya.

I just have two requests: Space music and more Enya.

I'm really glad to have new age music back into the lineup. Can't wait to turn it on tonight while falling asleep. The drive to work this morning was so relaxing...it was a misty rain, a fall chill in the air, and spa on the radio.

Any channel that plays Enigma is good
Seriously, this is exactly the music that Sirius was missing. So far the channel is perfect, IMHO. My only fear is about repetition and thin playlist rearing its ugly head later on. I listened for like one hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon and already heard one repeated song.
