Default Why not get ride of World Music?

If the rumor is correct that RS Radio will be with us until the end of the year maybe World Music shouldn't return. I mean if the station is so unpopular that you can remove it for 5 months and get away with it, then maybe a different format should be looked at. The only reason I can see they choose that station to replace is because they figured World Music would not lose subs. Just my two cents

Here's one sub that misses the world music channel. This was a lousy move by Sirius. I really hope that Satellite rasio isn't turning into a commerical free, slightly improved AM/FM. By paying for content I was hoping to be able to listen to music that I just can't find on the AM/FM dial. With some of the recent moves by Sirius and XM I fear that with the search for subscribers and profit this may be happening.

Where did you see or read that Margaritaville will be gone by the end of the year? I can't find anything. Also, please bring back Vacation. This is being missed so much by everyone, especially me....and Swing Street as long as we're on the subject.

Interesting that you would use emails as a method to gage popularity. I would not be so confident on that methodology. The only reason why I keep my XM around is because of world music and now folk. I can't imagine that a channel soley dedicated to the Stones couldn't be strongly integrated into one of the 5 rock channels.

Rather than gage popularity, why don't you do a survey and ask - what stations would you want to get rid of and replace with what. I think a nice 10,000 person survey would be very representative.

No one knows, perhaps the CSR's are talking about it over lunch? They don't know, but it sounds good.

Default Sirius: Variety_OFF

I, for one, am quite disappointed that we aren't hearing world music on The Globe. I like the Stones, but I like variety even more. I've enjoyed listening to Rolling Stones radio, but I've had enough. It's time for Sirius to put World music back on the The Globe.

As for not demonstrating the "demand" for world music by posting comments: I haven't posted because I've been driven to a state of apathy. Over and over Sirius has reduced music variety in order to provide more rock and pop programming. I'm talking about getting rid of Swing Street, trading the world music on Vacation ( http://www.sirius.com/vacation ) for the standard rock and pop of Margaritville, and now this: Horizons/The Globe has not returned as was scheduled and announced.

Variety is the spice of life, and Sirius is giving me less and less of it every month. I am not as in love with satellite radio as I once was. Maybe I should just sell my satellite receivers on eBay and look elsewhere for the musical variety for which I am willing to pay.

Keith and anyone else that’s fed-up with Sirius’s music programming,

My opinion is that WorldZone, the world channel on XM, is way better than Horizons ever was (at least the last 6 months of Horizons). If you like world folk music such as Celtic, Eastern European etc as opposed to internationally-flavored pop music, XM blasts Sirius away. I won't compare Vacation though as I didn't listen to it.

After getting XM, I haven’t listened to my Sirius much at all. They have more of the music that I personally like, and have better programming overall. That may be harsh news, but I think you would be thankful for it after switching. I won’t be renewing my Sirius sub unless they replace their music program directors, overhaul the music offerings, and redistribute their genre coverage.

You can try XM for free and judge the music for yourself.

If you’re a MacOSX user and need a way to listen, you can use this widget after signing up for the 3-day trial.

Need a decent, full XM setup at a discount? The Audiovox XR9 with car-kit can be found online for $50 (search for “XCS9”). The XR9 sold at www.myradiostore.com comes with the car kit even though it says that one is required (I called and asked). Use XM’s $50 rebate too and then you’re talking deep discount. Get the home-kit for it at Best Buy for $30. If you’d like a red display rather than a blue one, Sprawl-mart’s own version (Jensen, made by Audiovox) called the JXR9 has it, and can be bought with car-kit for $70 (although the rebate can’t be applied to it).

Enough with the Stones already! There are enough dinosaur rock stations. One of them could be the Stones home.

I miss Horizons. I'd miss the Globe if I've ever heard it.

The Globe will be back after the super bowl, mid Feb.
That is if you want to believe what Sirius says.
I'm sure "back by popular demand" will be their next excuse.

I feel cheated because a world channel like The Globe is one of the very reasons I chose Sirius. Now I find out there is absolutely zero world channels? False advertising, man.

I called it several times already.

Bait-n-switch is what it is.

One of the channels I was looking forward to listening to when I got my Sirius for Xmas was The Globe.

Very disapointing that it is a 24 hour Stones station.

I suspect the reason why Sirius chose The Globe for the Stones channel and not the Christian channel or the Korea channel, was due to it's proximity to Howard 100. 98 is right next door and any new subscriber fumbleing thought their new receiver would certainly NOT want to hear Christian or Korea stuff on their new toy.
