Default I really like Les Davis on Pure Jazz

As a long time jazz fan, I must say that I really enjoy the Les Davis show on Pure Jazz. His knowledge of jazz and subtle sense of humor adds to the excellent selection of tunes ( please slightly less vocals.) Les has a calming voice and fits in perfectly with the genre.

I also enjoy the Blue Note Hour and Gary Burton on Sundays. In fact, as a subscriber to both XM and Sirius, Pure Jazz is about the only Sirius channel I prefer. When not listening to Pure Jazz, I do also enjoy blue note radio on bluenote.com, esp. the classics channel- the ability to "self-program" is top notch.

A shout out to Les. He is on Mon-Friday 7pm-1am ET and Saturday 4-10 pm ET.

Chuck

I would agree wholeheartedly! The Les Davis show is one of my favorite things about Sirius too. I work out of town a lot, and carry my boombox with me. I play Pure Jazz in my hotel room and it makes the evenings much more enjoyable.

Yeah, Les is an old master--you can tell he is a seasoned vet just by listening to him. A quick Google turned up that we was doing jazz radio at WRVR, New York, a public service of Riverside Church, at least as far back as 1977.

Here in Detroit, we are very fortunate to have another old master by the name of Ed Love on the air at WDET in the evenings. This guy has been a Detroit jazz jock since the 50's, I think. He has an astounding wealth of knowledge and a very engaging personality. If you are curious, check out the live stream from 7-10 PM Eastern at wdetfm.org.

I almost never listen to Ed anymore. That's how much I like Les. And that's saying a lot. (Also, Les doesn't have to stop the music to beg for money twice a year. )

That's true, I send my money willingly every month to Sirius... and Les is one of the reasons why I do.
