From what I've heard listening to Sirius over the past couple weeks, I do not have many issues with repetition. I think the repetition on XM was just as bad on many channels. Either way, it doesn't come close to FM.

The Pulse could use some work. We've discussed that in another thread.

Remember, the reason many of us prefer Sirius programming is that they are more hits orientated, vs. XM's eclectic programming. Still, Sirius throws in enough eclectic music and variety to make it interesting. And there are several streams available if you want something totally different than the norm.

You have to expect some repetition on a hits stream, or with Octane (rock hits).

I agree Ryan, Sirius should not stray from their stylistic hit based scheme. It works and sounds great. Do things need to be tweaked here and there? Sure, as Sirius says 'music never sits still' and the playlists evolve over time.

Do we need to reinvent the wheel or bitch and moan at the airstaff? No way!

There is DEFINITELY tweaking needed! I like Sirius a lot! I have made it clear that I think it is the best of the two. However, there is no way I buy the "it is hit based so there will be more repeats". There are PLENTY of hits out there to be played. There are SEVERAL more good songs by the same artists that they already play, than they are playing. I didn't post the topic to give Sirius a black eye! I wanted everyone who had a problem to do something productive by using the "talk to us" feature, rather than complaining on this forum. I have read a reacuring them throughout a lot of the threads complaining about repeats. Let's get it out in the open now, fix it by complaining to Sirius, and move on! Let's not stifle the complaints. Let's embrace them in a constructive manner, and put Sirius over the top.

My post was not an attempt to stifle the complaint.

You posted your opinion. I posted mine. Jeff posted his. That is what forums are all about.

Of all the stations I listen to none of them need to be adjusted for their repetition. Everything is just fine with me. I would like to hear my favorite songs more than once a day and I would most likely miss that one time and then I would not hear it untill the next day if then. So I dont mind the repeats otherwise I and probably many others would usually not be able to catch their favorite songs.

btw. Streams I listen to most, US-1, Octane, Hip-hop nation, Street beat and Wax.

LONGCOM has hit the nail on the head!! Why play only one or two hits from an artist that has had numerous hits? I have written to several streams about this. I listen to old rock/oldies/r&b mostly. For example, a artist like Tom Jones had 30 Top 100 hits, yet I hear "Shes A Lady" nearly everyday. Would you like me to send you his greatest hits CD so you can play his other hits? Repetition will kill even a loyal audience after time..... expand playlists-depth and artists choice. This is suppose to be radio reborn...lets make sure it survives the delivery process!

Yes, I too have to agree with my buddy longcom1. We should keep the complaints or feedback coming. Those of us that write and let our views be known, we will help shape SIRIUS into what we all want and know it can be.

I think there IS too much repetition on many of the channels. I listen from the time I rise until bed time moving through various channels during the course of my day. While I understand SIRIUS is much more hit based and not as eclectic as XM. They still need to widen their play list because like AZJoe said, this is a big turn off and its the reason that many of the new folks on this forum left XM for SIRIUS. It needs to be addressed. Okay dats my two cents

I think the mix on US-1 is perfect.

I wasn't complaining that US-1 was over repetitive, I was merely pointing out that I was completely surprised no one commented on it, that's all. I agree with you, the idea behind top 40 radio is to turn it on and hear a hit. That's the entire reason behind the 2-3 hour rotation. If spacing was too much on US-1, I'd never hear a hit. It's perfect, no complaint here.

Speaking of repetition ..

New Country tends to repeat certain songs too often, for sure. I don't know the exact song title, but one of them is 'Rain from a drunken sky'. Arrgh.

Also, the other day, I flipped it to the Pulse, heard a song I didn't want to hear, so changed to US-1. The exact same song was playing! There was a time difference of maybe 10 seconds between them..

Your not the only one who noticed the song on New Country!

A couple of stream jockeys are aware of it, but no idea when they intend on changing it.

The only repeating that I've noticed so far is that it seems like every time I change to "The Trend", I get Paul Simon's "Father and Daughter"...

I'm sorry, I must have missed it in previous threads. How do you know this? THis isn't like "an unnamed source at the white house yesturday said,,,,,,,", which is probably the one of the janitors, is it?
