This is my first post (so be kind)...I just activated my Sirius subscription a couple of days ago after buying a Sportster Replay.

I researched XM vs Siruis for several weeks. I used the trial on both (3 days is far too short for a trial btw). I actually ended up subscribing to the XM Online-only for a while and wished Sirius had something similar.

I was really hung up on the lack of a NewAge station on Sirius. I loved the Soundscapes that I heard on Sunday on Horizons (also didn't know it was different on Sundays until I tried listening again on Monday).

What finally sold me on Sirius was the classic rock lineup that I also listen to, along with the Sportster Replay hardware. I also really liked the attitudes of the people in these forums (XM supporters just seem to get more defensive more easily

Anyway, just in case anyone at Sirius reads these forums, I just wanted to say that you almost lost a customer because of your lack of a NewAge channel, and I think if you are going to keep competing with XM, you need to try as hard as possible to build a channel lineup that is *better* than XM, and that means adding a fulltime NewAge music.

I want to listen to Enya, Yanni, Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel-Jarre, Vangelis, Kitaro, etc. I could easily fill a 24/7 playlist with just my own collection of CDs. But I want to hear this via satellite on Sirius!

Thanks for listening to my ramble.

As has been pointed out, that was the Sunday-only broadcast of Soundscapes. Your story reminds me of the way I listened to Soundscapes (back when it had its own channel) on long drives. For the urban Friday afternoon rush hour I would tune in to Soundscapes. It was like a bubble of calm that protected me from the nerve-wracking bumper-to-bumper traffic. Once I got out on the open road, however, I found that Soundscapes was a little too calming and I'd change the channel to something a little more upbeat, or a little more engaging, like news or old-time radio.

What time does Soundscapes start? According to the Horizons page, Soundscapes is on "Sundays 12 am - 12 am ET ". According to my math, that's either a 24 hour period or a typo.

It's a 24 hour period. I agree it would be clearer if they said 12:01am-11:59 pm

I did the exact thing yesterday(Sunday). We listened to Horizon(Soundscape) and it was great. The dog passed out in the back and I just kicked back. Sirius how about splitting the channel like you need to do with Starlite and Love. 6am-6pm Horizon and 6pm and 6am Soundscapes. Same thing Starlite for the work day 8am -8pm- Sirius Love 8pm -8am.

Or better yet - how about bringing it back FULL TIME? It was a wonderful oasis in a vast wasteland of awful music! Bring it back! It's time! (past time, in fact)

I also checked out Soundscapes this last Sunday and it was very good. It boggles my mind why Sirius got rid of it as a full time stream.

I predict ( ) that Sirius WILL bring back the Soundscapes channel (I got a clue about it in one of the recently-updated topics, actually).

After that happens, the Horizons channel needs a total overhaul. Right now they have only a miniscule lineup of songs that are really just internationally-flavored pop music. I proclaim that the BBC Radio-1 channel easily covers the genre that Horizons currently specializes in. Horizons could retire the narrow, overplayed list of internationally-flavored pop music and give the listeners some traditional music of real cultures.

Six months after I got Sirius, they deleted most of their best music channels and replaced them with the worst (Sept 29, '05). Hense I got XM on Oct 21st and doubt I'll be renewing my Sirius. I can't support a service that mimics commercial-FM.

Is there SOMEONE at Sirius we can email or something to get Soundscapes back? I mean, COME ON. I love rock, passisionately, but after a long day at work, or a long weekend, I LOVE soundscapes on XM (Why I still have my roady 2) or going to bed listening to Soundscapes on Music choice.
