There are a lot of us that like Classic Rock, and we appreciate the commercial free format. One of the reasons that you find so many Classic Rock stations across the FM dial is that people will tune in. Sirius and XM have to appeal to them too. I hear you on the more specialized formats, which is why I want Soundscapes back.

Fortunately Sat Radio isn't being programmed just to YOUR liking. I remember when we had The Rock it was a single classic rock channel. Sirius eventually subdivided it to the channels we have today and this is a much, much better setup. I would be VERY pissed if they dropped the current level of classic rock channels. Even younger folks today seem to like classic rock. If you don't, you still have the other channels to choose from, but why should we have to give up the channels we like?

Sirius can still allow for specialized formats or channels without dropping the current classic rock channels.

Now Grant it I to like the classic rock format on sirius but I wouldn't be suprised if sooner or later one of the classic rock stations dissapeard. Even though I don't want to see that happen. I have come to learn you can't always have it your way.

Classic Rewind and Classic Vinyl are brilliant separate, and average if they are combined imo as they used to be at one time. It would be like if the 60's and 70's were combined into a single channel and the 80's and 90's into another. It just isn't the same as having them separate.

I'm always nervous whenever they make channel changes as we are at the mercy of their idea of a good decision. One thing is certain, what is good for the overall lineup may not be good for anyone that likes a channel that gets cut or reformatted.

Hopefully there will be more adds than deletes but with limited bandwidth, that may be just wishful thinking.

just for another perspective....I'm new so I've just been listening recently, but I think the way the classic rock channels are seperated is great...it works well and if anything needed to be combined maybe it would be the alternative stations...

Recently I've been listening to the classic rock streams more, and I've changed my opinion -- they shouldn't be merged.

I could do without Jam-On (aka The Phish Stream) in a heartbeat, but I guess someone likes it.

The Classic Rock streams should definitely not be merged. Classic Rock is one area where Sirius has a distinct leg up (pun intended) on XM.

I like the idea of Starlite & Sirius Love merging since essentially then share many of the same songs. This will free up for either Soundscapes, a 90's channel, a movie soundtrack channel, a classic R&B channel, OR an easy vocal/instrumental format like XM's Sunny. Since we're at it, get rid off the Elvis channel too.

I second that motion

Don't get me wrong....but a whole channel doesn't seem necessary.

Elvis isn't leaving Sirius for a LONG time, it is up there as one of the most listened to.

I freaking LOVE Elvis Radio. I have a picture of the King tatooed on my scrotum.*

Actually, neither of those statements are true. But Elvis Radio would not be the first station I'd cut. If nothing else, it's unique, which is more than can be said for several of the other pop and rock streams. To me, if most of the songs you're playing can be found elsewhere on the service, then you're not really providing any extra value - you're just providing a more convenient playlist for the folks who like those songs, which is what .mp3 players are for.

Just as long as they don't kill off my Hard Attack, or I will have a HEART ATTACK! I'm still uneasy about that since XM done screwed all the metal fans. BTW, TX, your lineup looks good, but doesn't WSM have commercials? I don't think they'd be able to put that in the country category for that reason.
